This 1966 Honda 305 Dream (CA77) has been totally restored. Restoration of CA77 motorcycles is what I do in my free time in my shop at home. Although I am not a professional restoration shop I am a concours judge with a long track record of auto restoration, coin op restoration and motorcycle restoration. My restorations are extensive and correct. Chrome plated parts are re-plated in chrome. Hardware and springs that were zinc plated are re-plated in zinc. Bare aluminum parts are bead blasted and polished as original. Painted parts are repainted as they were from the factory. This nice example of a 1966 305 Dream began with complete disassembly. Once every nut and bolt is removed from the frame the following work is done: Frame: Gas tank cleaned and sealed Fuel petcock replaced Seat pan detailed and new cover installed All frame components professionally repainted New tank badges Detailed lever perches with new brake and clutch levers Detailed speedometer reset to 0 miles New cables New battery Wheels: Re-chromed rims Polished hubs and brake panels New spokes Wheels trued New rim strips and inner tubes New Firestone 3.25x16 whitewall tires Repacked wheel bearings Engine: Totally disassembled and cleaned Engine cases bead blasted New engine seals Cylinder bead blasted Cylinder honed (standard bore) New piston rings Cylinder head disassembled and bead blasted Valves lapped New cam chain New gaskets New points and condenser Rebuilt carburetor Misc: New chain New exhaust pipes New mufflers New handlebar grips New foot peg rubber I completed this bike in the fall but it got cold in the Chicago area earlier than expected so I was unable to complete my testing. I like to put 5-10 miles on the bikes as a shakedown run. During this period I inspect for leaks, adjust brakes, clutch, and carburetor. The weather has finally warmed and the bike now has 13 miles on it since completion. I am now confident in the finished product. Please note that this bike has two deviations from factory original. The mufflers are replacement fishtail mufflers with adapters to fit the original exhaust pipes. They also utilize a chrome strap mount that required no modification to the original muffler mounts. The fuel petcock is a modern replacement for the original problematic sliding petcock. Both of these modifications can be replaced very easily with original equipment at a later time if desired. Also note that the listed mileage is 13. That is the current odometer reading. The original mileage of the bike prior to restoration was approximately 12,000.
