Easy to Read Full Instrumentation ……. 2.4 L DOHC 5-Cylinder Turbo ……… Description: This is the V70 XC, Volvo’s premium entry into the all-wheel-drive (AWD) wagon market. These are also known as “Cross Country” wagons. Roomy and comfortable, this vehicle is equipped with the highly sought 2.4 L DOHC 5-cylinder turbo teamed with the 5-speed automatic Asin-Warner (AW55) transaxle. Topping all of this off, it is ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD). Don’t be confused between the V70 XC and the V70. Only the V70 XC is all-wheel-drive. This vehicle came available and we purchased it. This vehicle is VERY clean and cared for. But, of course, you expect vehicles this nice from Grove Automotive Group, Inc.! Options: Finished in silver with black leather upholstery, this ULTRA CLEAN 2001 Volvo V70 XC AWD features about everything that you expect in this Swedish luxury wagon beginning with the smooth and responsive 2.4 L DOHC 5-cylinder turbo teamed with the 5-speed automatic Asin-Warner (AW55) transaxle, driver, passenger, side and roof SRS (air bags), electronically controlled ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD), automatic climate control featuring a factory R134a refrigerant charge, 4-wheel ABS (anti-lock brakes), Volvo’s own SIPS (Side Impact Protection System), factory sunroof, power windows, central locking system, power mirrors, power seats, factory alloy wheels, factory sound system, 4-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, rear window defroster, folding rear seats, driver’s information center, service reminder system, factory security system, and much more! Yet ANOTHER Clean Southern Ride! This vehicle is riding on a good set of Michelin® premium tires! Service and Inspection Report: We brought this very clean Volvo in for service and found a few things to do. The prior owner had taken very good care of the vehicle and the paint, interior and vehicle show very well. However, we did uncover some needed repairs and we went ahead and bit the bullet and did them all. Read more below. For starters, we did an oil/filter change using the correct Volvo sealing washer on the drain plug, along with a new engine cap oil seal. Volvo makes the maintenance very inexpensive on these vehicles by specifying convention oil. While we had the oil out, we noticed that the dipstick end was a little brittle so we installed an new engine oil dipstick. We also installed a new timing belt, seals and tensioner so that you know that’s done. We install new spark plugs when we do timing belts. We use Denso® brand plugs which are original equipment on most Volvos. Moving along to the chassis, we found the brakes good, both front and rear. Turning out attention to the climate control, we checked the system and it operates as designed. We installed a new cabin air filter for you. Going around the vehicle, we replaced the LH lower tail light as it had a small crack and also installed new headlight wiper blades. When driving the vehicle, we noticed a whine coming from the rear differential. Originally, we thought it was the RH outer wheel bearing so we changed that and found that the whine continued. That’s rare on Volvo cars, but for some reason, the differential gears had some wear. We went ahead and installed a differential unit from a quality recycled part and topped it off with synthetic gear oil. The whine is now totally gone. Using our Snap-On Solus® diagnostic scanner, we noticed some shift solenoid codes which are common on the earlier AW-55 transmission. What happens is that the electronic shift solenoids stick and the shift quality is not as good as when new. However, the transmissions in these vehicles can go a long time with service. So, we replaced the electronic shift solenoids in the valve body and did a complete transmission fluid change using the correct Mobile 3309 fluid. This procedure took care of the codes, and now shifts as designed. Finishing up, we installed new wiper blades, front, rear and also on the headlights. Shop around and then ADD IT UP! Why buy one that needs work? How much will that cost you in addition to the car itself? The items that we serviced would easily cost you $3,500 if you did all of this after the sale. Buy from Grove.
