Vehicle Detail
This is your ultimate touring machine from 1999. This is a well cared-for 528i (sport-enhanced) that has always been a CA resident (as far as I can tell). It was originally sold in Los Angeles, so it does not speak rust. It drives like a dream, and runs smoothly and quietly, as a BMW should. As of last year, the car has new brakes (rotors and pads) and tires (yes, all four). The miles, at 136k+, are relatively low for the car's age. The interior is still in very good condition, even down to the headliner. The moon roof still works great, and has never leaked. The dash is perfect, and the black leather seats, while a bit dehydrated, are in excellent shape; all power functions still work fine. Even the carpet is still in very good shape. All gauges and instrumentation function perfectly. The original stereo and trunk-mounted CD changer work very well. All of the windows go up and down without issue. The A/C and heat work great. The paint is a bit faded on the roof, and I've tried to show this in the pictures. The ride and handling are still excellent, as the car does not bounce or thud over bumps, and the tires wear quite evenly. The steering is still quite tight. The muffler is still quiet. The transmission shifts perfectly. The engine hums and is happy doing 80 all day--it also has plenty of power on hills, which I drive regularly. The car averages 27 miles per gallon on my 90-mile commute (four days per week). There is an intermittent check engine light--all of these cars seem to do this, according to my research. There is an airbag warning light that appeared when a window regulator was replaced--this is being addressed presently. This is a very nice car to drive. These things are known to hit 300k. This one's a good candidate, with the right owner. The reserve on this car is quite reasonable. Edit: The Autocheck report seems to indicate an odometer discrepancy. This is the first I've heard of this, and unless the car's computer was replaced (don't know), one cannot roll a digital odometer back. My suspicion is that someone used another car's data to pass a smog check, and entered different mileage for that--smog check stations transmit info directly to the DMV. As for a prior accident, I have seen no evidence. There is however a very small ding between the kidney grilles . . .
