Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1964 MGB that I have owned for about two years. I originally intended on restoring it and using it but I have determined that I possess too many projects to finish as I am currently working on an MGA among many others. The B has fairly good bones and is in decent shape rust wise since it originally spent most of its life in California. There is the usual rust in the rockers and one side of the floor pans has a small amount of rust through but still is stout enough to use as is. The trunk is in great shape. As you can see by the pictures, this car has had a respray (or two) and has been reconditioned once I am guessing back in the late 90s. The paint is peeling in spots and needs to be stripped eventually. The engine and trans were rebuilt along with most other components. I have no way to determine if the actual mileage is correct. I doubt it is but whether it needs a 100K added to it or possibly it was reset to zero after the motor was rebuilt... only the MG Gods know. The oil pressure and operating temps are perfect.Currently the car does start up and run and was driveable on the road when I bought it. I did some minor work to it to get all the electrics working, replaced the valve cover gasket, tie rod ends, rear travel straps and rack and pinion steering boots. It would be a great car to buy to do a rolling restoration with as it would take very little to get it back to being roadworthy. The tires have some dry rot in them from sitting so long. The front end is fairly sloppy and would be the first thing I would work on if I were to keep it. There are several dings and body blemishes around the car including the usual sheet metal tear at one of the door wings. Also, the top is fairly new but was not installed properly and will need to be adjusted for perfect fit. The interior is on its last legs but could suffice until you got around to restoring it. All in all, the car would be a great candidate to restore and have some fun in until you got ready to start the project. This is one of the most valuable years of the entire 17 year MGB production history as it has the metal dash and pull handles for the doors. Feel free to ask any questions and I will answer as honestly as I can. As with any 52 year old car it is by no means perfect so please do not expect a 100% sorted and restored car as it will most likely cost you about 15K more! I will deliver this within a 500 mile radius for $1.40 per one way mile if interested. The car is advertised locally and any sale may end the auction prematurely. Thanks for looking! On Mar-21-16 at 07:48:17 PDT, seller added the following information: The title is clear and in my possession. I will accept only the $500 deposit via paypal due to paypal expense and scammers. The remainder will be either cash, Bank Cashiers Check(in advance) or Bank Wire before release of the car and title. On Mar-22-16 at 09:20:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to post the following information concerning the engine. From MG production records this engine was manufactured in 1964 and is a three main version 1800cc. I have no reason to believe that the engine in the car is anything but the original matching numbers engine. The engine serial number is 18GA-UH-4820 After fixing the valve cover gasket the engine appears to be virtually leak free. Although the words MG and leak free are never typically used in the same sentence, (at least if you are not trying to impart some humor), there appear to be none of the major leaks prevalent with a lot of the three main engines.
