Here is your chance to get a Prius Hybrid that is currently running with a few fixable mechanical issues at a great discount. This Prius is currently being driven locally as my daily driver but three weeks ago I got a check engine light with a red triangle warning so I took it to Toyota and they said my Torque limiter was sliding (it's like a clutch in a manual transmission car) and it needed to be replaced. The part to fix it is cheap (and even cheaper if you get one from an auto salvage yard) it is just too much work for me to do myself with my busy schedule. The error code for the Prius home mechanics out there was P3120 with a sub-code of 241. The car is running and I am currently driving it locally but you have to take off like an old lady (as in "take off slowly so it wont slip" but I do take it up to 50 mph + on the bigger streets with no problems while driving around town) or it will error out and give you a check engine light with another red triangle. All I do when that happens is clear the codes when I get home and continue driving it the next day. I have driven it like this for two weeks with no error codes popping up but like I said you need to take off slowly so the torque limiter wont slip. If you try and take-off too fast or try going up a steep hill or take it on the highway at 80mph it will error out again and may even shut down if you keep pushing it... you will then have to wait a few minutes by the side of the road before you can start it up again and continue on your way. Because of this I do not recommend anyone try and drive it home, you will need to put it on a u-haul tow-dolly and pull it home or have it delivered! The part that is damaged is like a clutch between the electric motor and the gas engine. This would be a great purchase for someone wanting to repair it themselves or use it as a parts car if they already have a 2001-2003 Prius because it has a running engine, a good hybrid battery, a good inverter and is in pretty good condition inside and outside (Florida and Texas car) considering it is 15 years old. Someone could even purchase the car and sell most of the parts on ebay and you could double or even triple your money... a used hybrid battery alone is selling on ebay for around $1,200.00 - $1,500.00! You could very well purchase this complete car for less than the cost of a used Prius hybrid battery!!! The other issues with the car are the front windshield is cracked (shown in the pictures) , the tires have 40-50% life left on them, the rear passenger door lock sometimes sticks and wont always open or lock with the remote (works fine manually), the clock does not work, the front lower cowling is cracked, the car has been hit from behind and has minimal damage that can be seen in the pictures, and there are dings and scratches here and there. I firmly believe this car has great value for the backyard mechanic or for a current Prius owner who wants a parts car with a strong hybrid battery to keep his Prius running for years and years or for the business man who wants to double or triple his money by parting out the car. I have tried to be as honest as possible with this listing but this car will be sold as is and with no warranty as most used cars today are sold. I can also send a video of the car currently driving around town (just send me your email) with no error codes or check engine codes as long as I take off slow!
