Selling my largely unmolested early production (1st year -1955) Willy's Jeep CJ5. This is the first year of the round fender civilian Jeeps that has a great "barn find" patina to its original red paint. No Appreciable rust. One small pencil eraser size spot where half cab had pine needles stuck under it. This jeep was always in the west half of US - not rust areas. Important to note that they did not make CJ-5's starting in 1952. That was the first year of the military version of the round-fender jeep. Google and Wikipedia apparently state 1952 as the first year of the CJ-5, it's not. Believed to have been manufactured in late 1954 or early 1955 as the first year of the civilian CJ-5. 1955CJ-5 serial #'s 57548-10001 to 57548 27006 total built in 1955 was 17006 units. This is the 5624th built! This jeep still retains the authentic 6-volt electrical system with correct F-head 134ci 4 cylinder motor coupled to the 3 speed transmission and two speed transfer case. It it all functions pretty well especially since the jeep is 60 years old! Has several M38AI military jeep items - vacuum and hand crank windshield wipers, and the desirable early features including the reversed front spring shackles (as found on the military version). Dash is largely unmolested. This is not a brand new or restored jeep. It's loud and clangs and bumps, AND its a jeep! Removable metal hardtop in place just missing back two side windows - easy fix with polycarb from Home Depot. (doors included with roll down windows-need a little work -doors were never mounted on this jeep). also have a set of soft doors with slightly sun discolored windows. Backseat mounted in jeep. Newer fold and tumble style but black vinyl matches low back front seats. Odometer says 40,000 but actual mileage is unknown but probably not very high as this was used as a farm vehicle.
