I know that some of you viewers are interested in this vehicle and there have been some questions about the car and the price so here is some straight up background for you: I owned and loved this car for 9 years. In early 2015 my plan was to keep driving this car for another 4-5 years, but it needed some attention, so over the next several months I put a LOT of money into it to make it look and run great. I bought new run-flats ($1100), new tie rods ($650), new brakes ($1175), new belts / water pump ($2210), new exhaust / valve cover ($1060) new paint on nose/hood ($500). I also had the rear end was completely repaired/repainted but that was done for free by Mini because there was a early rust on the tail lights. In late 2015, a couple weeks after completing the final work on this long list, my engine blew up. It was probably gasket which happens in older Minis. The mechanics that looked at it called it a "catastophic event'. Mini offered to replace the engine for $8500. I was pretty upset with that price and so I went up the ladder to the regional Mini agent. I argued that the car was not even 10 years old and I had taken great care of it. They agreed that the engine failure was premature and they offered to replace the engine at cost, $4900. I decided that I should probably have the clutch replaced at the same time because the engine was out and it would be cheaper to do it then, this added another $900. So, over the past year I have invested over $12,000 in the car. I was OK with this investment though because the car is great and I was happy to be driving it. But then I unexpectedly got a new job 40 miles from my house, so my commute went from 15 miles/day to 80 miles/day. And these are not NOT highway miles, they were country road miles. So in the interest of gas milage and snow driving, I made the difficult decision to buy a used Prius with snow tires and put my beloved Mini up for sale. I understand that I will not get back the $12,000+ that I spent on the Mini over the past year, but the truth is that this car is a great deal because it has so many new parts. The Blue Book on the vehicle is $5000 and I am only asking for an additional $2750 for which you get a brand new engine with a transferable 2-year warrantee plus all the other new parts, tires and paint! I am flexible on the price and I promise that whoever gets the car will be getting a very nice bargain. Also, I have all the paperwork from the repairs so that is all documented. Up for auction is a gorgeous 2006 Mini Cooper S hard-top manual 6-speed. This car has 108,900 miles on the odometer but only 25 miles on its engine and clutch! Yes, it has had a BRAND NEW engine installed a few weeks ago, warranteed for 2 years! The tires are also brand new run-flats with less than 100 miles of wear. Other work done on the car within the last year: new paint front and rear, new tie rods, new brakes, new exhaust. With all this work, this is practically a new vehicle!! Front and rear paint were not due to accident - front was gravel chip damage and rear was rust and Mini fixed rear for free! I have loved driving this car for the last 9 years and the only reason I am selling it now is because my commute has increased in distance and with the winter conditions, I need an all-wheel drive.
