1985 VW Vanagon westfalia weekender camper. 1.9 waterboxer engine completely rebuilt 2k ago . This Vanagon was restored by my brother an experienced vw mechanic about 10 years ago. A couple of years after the rebuild the engine suffered a engine fire due to a failed fuel line. My brother then parked it intending to do a carb conversion unfortunately he past away before getting to it. The van sat a number of years before myself and a friend both of us experienced with vw ourselves undertook the task of getting the van back on the road for my sister- in- law. So here is what has been done in the past year with less than a 1 k miles put on it:Remove fuel injection and replace with a 1 barrel carb and manifoldReplace engine harness with another original harnessNew belts and hosesFuel tank dropped and cleanedAll new plugs ,wires, cap and rotorA/C compressor replaced and system charged and functioningNew batteryAll new correct DRated tires All brakes replacedNew paint(driver quality still has a few small dents ) but looks niceInterior is all been recovered in original restoration and looks goodThis Vanagon runs,stops,drives well
