Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a clean and refined 1973 CB350G Super Sport. This was the final model year. It featured slight upgrades from previous years. This bike has been carefully crafted in order to maintain its classic appeal and offer modern styling and functionality. This is not a chopped-up, trashy caricature of a "cafe racer." It is a beautiful motorcycle that has style in spades and can be enjoyed and appreciated by anyone. I am the third owner and it was 100% original when I purchased it a year and half ago. The bike sat for the better half of two decades when it's last owner passed away. It was in poor cosmetic condition but was mechanically sound and required a severe tune-up to restore to running condition. All work has been performed using standard Honda tune-up and repair guidelines. It is almost fully original with the exception of mechanical and cosmetic adjustments that were made only to enhance the bike's comfort, style, and function. With the exception of parts that were refinished/refurbished, all parts were replaced using OEM Honda parts unless a superior aftermarket part was available. This bike has been meticulously restored, maintained, and improved upon during its time owned by me. That being said, the bike is not perfect. The metal is not perfect. The paint is not perfect. But it is a well-restored CB350. It gets nothing but stares and thumbs going down the road and surely anyone can appreciate these Hondas for their rich heritage and classic style. With all that said, below you will find the work and time put into her. Once I got the bike home, I assessed its condition and found that the bike was in great shape mechanically. Still, it deserved the proper treatment and the engine was removed, rebuilt, and cleaned thoroughly. Cylinders were honed and new rings were installed. Cam chain was replaced and installed with a NOS cam chain guide and sprocket. All engine gaskets were replaced. Valves were adjusted and ignition timing was set. All electrics were inspected and replaced as necessary. The bike’s charging system was revived with a Rick's Motorsport Electrics performance stator and rectifier/regulator combo unit and new Interstate battery. A built in battery tender connection was added to the new battery. To handle the upgraded power, the bike was equipped with premium performance Dynatek coils and wired up using NGK wires and plugs. Ignition remains classic with brand new points and condensers. The carbs were completely rebuilt and re-jetted. They are accompanied by UNI air filters, replacing the stock airbox. Fuel delivery was restored with new lines, a new petcock, and overflow lines. The tank's bridge line was replaced with a dual shutoff quick-disconnect valve. The exhausts were replaced with reproduction shorter mufflers to give it a nice sound and enhance airflow. For the finer details, the tank on this bike is a rare, one-year only 1970 CB350 tank. It replaced the original because of its nice lines and shape. It is painted in a modern Honda color, Avignon Blue Metallic. The classic Honda wings and emblems were refinished by hand in gloss black. The side covers are also circa 1970 and finished to match the tank. The side cover emblems are original, the way they look best. The seat has rubbed the tank paint during normal running vibrations, but it is not visible when it is down. The seat was recovered using a custom-made reproduction cover that is much softer and more comfortable than the original. The gauges were stripped, polished, and refaced. Bulbs were replaced with LEDs. The handlebars are top-notch Norman Hyde M bars flipped down to clean up the front with a sportier feel. Comfortable and durable ProGrips finished them off. To accommodate the bars, the switches were modified to run the wires on the outside, making it easier for the next owner to swap bars if needed. The ignition was relocated to place it front and center on the bars. Stock mirrors were swapped for a single handlebar-end mirror. The headlight was replaced with a halogen upgrade unit that has a yellow pilot. The turn signals are original with shortened OE style stems. The chrome all around was polished as well as the engine. Worn-out rubbers were replaced with OEM Honda bushings and mounts. Almost all bolts were replaced with hex cap bolts and many others were brushed and restored. The throttle, clutch, speedo, and tach cables were all replaced. The swingarm and other body parts were stripped, sanded, and painted with satin black chassis paint. The swingarm, clutch, and bearings were inspected, cleaned, and repacked with grease. The chain was replaced with the OEM D.I.D. chain. The rear drum was polished and installed with new shoes. The front caliper was rebuilt, freshly padded, and paired with a Nissin retro-style master cylinder and fit with custom-made braided steel lines. The front forks were cleaned, rebuilt, and filled with fresh oil. The forks were finished with new OEM gaiters. The bike was shoed with fresh tubes and new Avon RoadRider tires that handle exceptionally well. Countless hours have been spent on this bike. It is ready for its new owner to ride, enjoy, and appreciate. The bike will come with the original Honda manual. The title is bonded, but otherwise clear and blue. Please note the mileage may change slightly.
