Vehicle Detail
New GM 385 horse power ZZ-4 350 c.u.GM Performance aluminum headsProfessionally built turbo 350 transmissionEaton 10-bolt POSI with 3:55 gears and strange axlesPower steering and power brakesThis Nova has been a member of my collection for many years. Others have come and gone but this car always remained in it's designated spot. Sentimental value also factors in but this is such a great car that I couldn't bring myself to sell it. Alas, the time has come and it feels right to pass the torch onto another appreciative owner. Maintaining and enjoying all of them has become more of a task than I have time for. Teenage daughters volleyball and basketball games, a large yard to take care of and other priorities have put my Hotrods on the back burner. Watching them sit untouched is just wrong. My Nova traveled less than 100 miles in the last year. It's time to say goodbye to a few 4-wheeled friends. Figured I'd start with one of the hardest to let go of first. Some cars grab you which is the case for my Nova. She's not necessarily the most expensive member of my collection (my '55 Belair Convertible holds that honor) but she's certainly a fan favorite. This car covers the spectrum. Gorgeous to look at, fun to brag about and an absolute hoot to drive. I purchased this car over a decade ago and then spent the next few years making her what you see today. Already a nice car at my time of purchase but several improvements were performed. All high performance drive-train, beautiful body and paint and an extremely nice interior were the final results. A rock solid car that has never been abused. 3 adult owners since new. These 2nd generation Nova's are getting hard to find in this condition. I know, I collect them. This is a very nice car with thousands of dollars and countless man-hours smartly invested. This is one of those rare occasions where photographs won't be enough. I hope those of you with deep interest will take the time to read my written synopsis of the car. For those that just enjoy pretty pictures, here you go- I will make brief comments under certain pictures throughout the photo display. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Nova in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles as I could think of. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Thursday evening, the 10th of December at 7:30PM Pacific.I'd enjoy talking with interested buyers. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the Nova becomes no longer available.*If you are outside of the U.S. or Canada, PLEASE contact me to confirm your bidding activity as genuine.* Everyone, please be sure to read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Nova. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see in the neighborhood park near my home the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my Nova and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE > Although not perfect, I am hard pressed to find things worth complaining about on my Nova. I'm a detail oriented person and other than a paint chip here and there I have nothing negative to document. Body and paint are very nice. One complete repaint was done about 15 years ago. Not Concourse level but a nice job was performed at that time. The finish holds a high shine and gloss. The paint is very smooth as you run the back of your hand over it. The car is extremely straight and looking down the sides is impressive. No abuses of bondo or other body fillers. She has NO rust issues. Body panel fitment and gaps are excellent. All chrome, both bumpers, exterior trim & stainless moldings and the grille are gorgeous. The glass is crystal clear. Whether from a distance or standing right next to it, the appearance is outstanding. The interior is in beautiful condition. Many more photos as you scroll down this display. Just about everything under the hood is new and attention to details in the engine compartment are obvious. Please note: Due to the high shine and gloss the paint holds, reflections from anything around the car show like a mirror. As I said earlier, I really like this car and even though I never drive her anymore I felt like spending some money on her recently. I just installed the wheel and tire package. They are brand new 17x7 in front and 18x8 in the rear with polished lips. Tires are new as well. In person they are even more spectacular. She was already a one of a kind but now even more so. There is a tiny ding at the very bottom of the door where it meets the stainless rocker molding. Both quarter panels are gorgeous. The license plates are originals. In Oregon our registration lasts 2 years, thus the 71 expiration stickers. I intend to keep these plates unless the car sells to an Oregon buyer. I might be flexible on this. Entire roof line is flawless. No typical rear window rust issues. Please look closely at the edge of the drivers door. There is a touched-up paint chip there from opening the door and contacting the garage wall. I didn't do it so I avoid discussing it. However, it is one of VERY few blemishes to mention and although it is small it is the biggest flaw on the entire car. Also on the drivers door. I had always intended to spend the 3 or $400 to rectify the two minor imperfections on the drivers door, this one and the one on the edge. I do have the paint code and I'm fairly sure I even have a small can of the paint. I'll let the next owner get the credit for taking care of these minor blems. The only blister I've discovered. This is on the right rear wheel opening. I have small fingers. This pimple is tiny. Cowl area is beautiful. I love them all but some more than others. It's difficult to decide which ones to find new homes for. The interior is very, very nice. Seats, door panels, rear side panels, carpet and dashboard are all in great shape. The steering wheel is excellent with one small crack at 12-o-clock. This is the original headliner. This one minor flaw keeps it from being excellent. A brand new one is included with the sale. The factory dash pad is excellent. The padded covers that run up the side pillars are slightly flawed at the bottom. Still nice, I'm just being picky. All gauges, lights, speedometer, heater, wipers, radio and even the horn function properly. In fact, the day I took these photos was only 40 degrees. The heater kept me nice and toasty! Such a great car. The little red gear selector needle is broken. One of very few little things I didn't get to. Every engine monitoring gauge maintains perfect levels. Excellent oil pressure at all times and the temperature never exceeds 190. Perfect. The entire trunk area is perfection. Nothing more to say. The brand new headliner is in the box shown here. Original quarter panels with factory stampings. Nothing really to say here. The ZZ4 motor runs and performs exceptionally well and has very low miles. This is one of the highest level crate engines offered by GM. This is the 385hp, fast-burn motor. They are the Holy Grail for factory built performance engines. All other components are operating correctly also with almost everything new. She starts easily and has a perfect idle. Crisp throttle response in all ranges. The turbo-350 transmission is built to match the motor and shifts perfectly. Very slight stall and mild shift-kit. The POSI rear end is also all new. The mechanicals of this car are extremely well sorted and high quality. This car has a sound that can not be improved. I am aware of no fluid leaks of any kind or current repairs needed. I take very good care of my cars. "Turn key" is the most accurate way to describe the drive-train. Maybe too many details here and I'm overloading you but this is worth sharing. The Edelbrock carburetor functions properly and powers the car as intended. My research indicates that a correctly tuned and fitted Holley 750 is the crown jewel for these motors. I've never been disappointed with the power and performance of the car but I have it on good authority that the addition of the Holley would boost horse power significantly. I'm no hotrodder or racer. I simply enjoy the cars in my collection. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate stop light to stop light acceleration and jumping on the throttle when entering the freeway. The Nova has always impressed in those areas. You can just about eat off of everything in the motor compartment, figuratively speaking. Much time and attention to detail here. Actually, attention to detail is easy to see throughout the car. Stamping on aluminum heads. I installed a new gas tank for cosmetic purposes. It's so nice to look from behind and see the new tank. NEVER exposed to a salted road. We don't use salt or harsh chemical de-icers here in the Pacific Northwest. The undersides of the car are outstanding and what we hope to see. There is one very small correctly done repair where the passengers feet would rest. A small square of factory floor was used. This small area was done so well that I owned the car for several years before even noticing it. As mentioned previously, I keep the members of my collection maintained. Steering and suspension are tight and sound with new components where needed. Most recently I replaced the tie rod ends just because I felt like it. The brakes function flawlessly with smooth operation and stop on a dime. As noted on the factory trim tag she's always been blue with blue interior. Paint code 53 and interior code 735. Original and unaltered Vin plate on dash. 11427 designating factory V8, 2-door Nova Coupe. I'm hoping that my appreciation for this Nova is contagious and that your impression is fully formed by now. It is a beautiful car and more than worthy of sitting next to the other members of my collection. A car that can be enjoyed with a high level of pride. Thanks again-____________________________________________________________Terms of Sale: 46yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS:Please read and agree with the following:I have described my Nova honestly and to the best of my ability based on over 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. This is one of the nicest you will find. I have 100% faith in the drivability of my car and everything is in excellent working order per my written description provided above. I enjoy driving her without concern but she is 46 years old so routine service and repairs should be expected based on her age. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. Free and clear Certificate Of Title will be provided.
