1970 C10 CST Black Widow Video was shot in high definition, be sure to check that it's set on HD by clicking the little gear looking sign at the right bottom of video and selecting quality to 720p 0r 1080p.. Or that it shows HD at gear sign when playing. Not sure if it's automatically playing in HD for everyone here on eBay. Or watch on Youtube, be sure to enlarge and turn up your speakers. Selling my 1970 Chevrolet CST (Custom Sport Truck) C-10 Short Bed Fleet Side as you can see. If I were in the market and didn’t want a truck that I’d have to restore or have restored and wait forever having it done or doing it, but maybe just add some personal touches and enjoy it, I’d be looking for and hoping to find one like mine. The reason I’m putting it up for sell, it’s time to move on, I have other interest’s and things in mind. I don’t “need” or “have” to sell it tho. I’m sure when it goes it’ll be a part of me that hates to see it go since I’ve had it so long, but I’d rather it go to someone who is really going to enjoy it and likes/loves these old trucks..Verse just keeping it for the sake of keeping it. I've spent a lot of time deliberating on what is a fair price for my truck. I'm not a dealer, so I'm not really "trying" to sell anyone on my truck, this is more of an opprotunity for someone that's interested in it, to have it. I've seen some real rust buckets going for more on here than what I'm listing my truck for tho. Altho it may not be a Riddler contender it is a really slick straight truck, and you don't find them that often, especially black ones. I've set the price to what I believe whoever gets it, shouldn't lose(even if it gets bid up a good bit), seeing how these trucks are gaining popularity and value. And if they chose could do things to it and only add value or appeal if they ever decided to sell it or keep.. So like I said, I'm not making any real attempt at selling it using catchy phrases trying to lure anyone into it. And it could be that I'm short changing myself and someone else gains profit, but money isn't everything. Honestly I hope whoever gets it, truly likes it... History I’ve owned the truck for roughly 16 years. I bought it off a dad, who had bought it for his son. He owned it for a couple of years, then went off to college and the dad sold it to me for him. I’m unknowing of any prior history, but as far as I know it’s been a south eastern truck. I went into the military and the truck was in storage for years and has always been garaged while I’ve owned it. Mechanical things such as engine and transmission are newly rebuilt as mentioned in further detail below. Everybody that likes and appreciates old vehicles seems to really think it’s slick, straight, and clean. Get a lot of people wanting to come take a look at it at gas stations and while out in general. Thumbs up going down the road etc. A lot of compliments on the paint being really slick and wet looking, and the body being straight etc. I recently had a local Hot Rod shop owner say he’d seen 40k paint jobs that didn’t look as slick as it does. A lot of people seem to be enthused tho. While doing the videoing for the video above, I had people running me down to pull over and look at it, one being a DOT truck with three DOT guys, they all circled it asking questions and complimenting it etc. Here’s a list of some of the things that have been done to the truck in no particular order… And I’m sure I’ll miss some things. Drivetrain Engine/Engine BayThe engine is a brand spanking newly rebuilt 350 four bolt main, bored to 355, about 350 horse power. It was built by a reputable racing engine builder that has been building engines and specializing in Chevrolets for well over 30 years. Before building it he took the block to his trusted reputable go to machine shop to be checked out and have the machining work done, it was Vat cleaned, and block decked, inspected etc... After he got it back from the machine shop and built it, it was properly broken in on the stand, checked for leaks or issues (there wasn’t any) and tuned, before ever being put in the truck. We put it in, turned the key and it fired right up. At this point it may have about 200 miles on it, so it’s really not truly broken in as far as actual on road driving etc. It runs really well, sounds good, and has a sweet lick. Been in the truck only a couple of months. *This current engine is not the engine that was in the truck when I bought it, that one had bearing go bad and after further inspection once tore down decided it wasn’t a good enough candidate to rebuild. So that’s why the new newly rebuilt engine..This one is much nicer than previous. Block Paint The block was further cleaned and properly prepped for refinishing. High quality Dupont etch primer, primer, and paint with hardeners were used to refinish the block for a durable finish, which is red. A lot of compliments on it, it pops. Engine Bay/Compartment- PaintThe engine bay compartment- inner fenders, inside fenders, fire wall (lower firewall sprayed with under coating where it had been originally sprayed from factory), radiator support inner/outer, frame, and under hood were sprayed with a smooth satin black finish.. Subtle and goes well with the engine and causes it to pop even more. A lot of compliments on it looking clean, simple, and not overly done. That’s what I was going for. Engine All new sealsNew gasket set.New springs.Valve Job.New Extreme Energy Cam Kit with a 490 lift.Pistons were checked and cleaned.New oil pump.New crank and bearings.New rod bearings.New main bearings.New pushrods.New timing chain.New polished billet timing chain cover.New freeze plug kit.New Edelbrock chrome high rise intake manifold.New Edelbrock 600 four barrel carburetor (tuned to engine).New air cleaner.New chrome air cleaner cover.New polished billet finned valve covers.New polished billet finned oil cap cover to match valve covers.New water pump.New fuel pump. All New polished billet pulleys. All new Bates belts. All new Bates hoses. All new vacuum hoses. All new fuel lines. All new fuel line filters.New high performance HEI distributor.New plug wires.New spark plugs.New plug wire looms.New alternator, also painted.New custom made billet alternator mount to replace old bracket style.New battery.New positive and negative battery cables.New starter/starter solenoid.New power steering pump.New power steering hoses.New master cylinder (not refurb), also painted.Stock exhaust manifolds were taken to machine shop, planed flat where they bolt to heads, also blasted. Prepped, primed and painted with high temp paint.New oil pan.New Thermostat. Coolant systemRadiator is a big 4 core. It was taken to a reputable radiator shop that’s been in business for many years. They did a pressure test and inspected it for any leaks or issues, none were found, so it tested good. It was also freshly painted.New fan.New 180 degree clutch fan. No issue running hot, temp stays right where it should.New fan shroud.New polished billet radiator over reservoir with new hose. TransmissionTransmission is a Turbo 350, 3 speed automatic. It was rebuilt by a reputable shop that has been in business for longer than I’ve been alive. When they rebuilt it they also added a shift kit. The transmission probably has around 300 miles on it.New finned billet aluminum transmission cooler, with new hoses. *Also When we put in the new engine a couple of months ago, we drained all the transmission fluid and put in a new filter, just for safe measure and to check it. All the fluid that came out looked really good, I probably wasted the time and money doing it. Also Put in a new pan gasket and sealed, then obviously put fresh transmission fluid in. Misc drive lineThe old two piece drive shaft was removed along with the old carrier bearing. I had a custom one piece drive shaft made specifically for this truck, by a guy who made/makes them for race cars.New rear differential pinion seal.12 Bolt Differential, fluids were recently drained, cover taken off for inspection of gears. No noticeable abnormalities, cover replaced properly resealed with new gasket and sealer, refilled with new fluid.New wheel cylinders for both passenger and driver side rear wheels. ShocksMonroe BrakesNew master cylinder (not refurb), also freshly painted.New shoes front and rear.Rear drums were turned. Front didn’t need turning.New brake fluid and bled. WheelsNew wheels - Custom Steel Milners made for this truck. The rears are 15x10’’, the fronts are 15x8’’, they also have a custom offset. They are powder coated gloss black (perfect match to truck), and have a very slick finish, no dry spray or orange peel look. I wanted something that could’ve been done back in the 70’s, something that would’ve looked cool then but also wouldn’t be dated now or later (like a lot of the ones that are popular now will be at some point, next week a year from now, whenever)… Anyway I think the wheels will look cool years from now because they aren’t dated.. They look good on the truck, the custom offset gives it a different stance and look verse normal original steels would. New chrome bullet center caps.New chrome bullet lug nuts. TiresNew Tires, I wanted a smooth sidewall without a lot of tacky looking lettering etc. So I went with the tried and true BFG Radial T/A’s.The set may have around 250 miles on them if that, same amount of miles on the wheels. ExhaustExhaust was replace with true dual, Two Chamber Flow-Masters, including new exhaust tubing from exhaust manifold all the way back.. The tips turn down to the ground over the differential. It sounds really good, especially with the cam that’s in it. It has a crisp tinny lick. It sets off car alarms in some parking lots, just idling thru. But on the same note it’s not obnoxious or really loud. A lot of people really think it sounds good. Guess you don’t hear vehicles with licks too much these days. FuelRemoved old crusty stinking gas tank from behind seats/in cab (Don’t know what they were thinking with that horrible design).Got New 21 Gallon Blazer tank and mounted it under bed and behind differential, the filler hole/cap is now inside bed.New gas sending unit.New fuel lines. *I’ve been running 93 octane in it, and that’s what I’d recommend.. Altho I did run some racing fuel a bit after the build. Body/Paint/Interior The pictures really don't do it justice, it's hard to tell how slick and straight it is, and how the paint looks deep and wet. Body/Misc Parts The entire truck was disassembled and blasted down to bare metal. Cab off, bed off, front clip off (inner and outer fenders, radiator support, hood etc), doors off, and windows out etc. After blasting, all top and bottom molding holes (from CST “Custom Sport Truck" trim), and marker lights(metal cut to fit) and were welded up and shaved. The bed rails had stake holes, metal was cut to fit holes, welded in and shaved. The old rear bumper was tossed and replaced with a new steel roll pan, which was welded into place and shaved into bedsides. The old rusted cab corners were cut out and removed, then replaced/welded in with new ones, both driver and passenger side. The old rusted inner and outer rocker panel was cut out and removed, then replaced/welded in with new ones. The old rusted lower front door A Pillar was cut out and removed, then replace/welded in with new one.The roof seem line was shaved. The cargo light hole was shaved using metal and welded into place.Cowl Vents were shaved, but wiper holes left.Welded up and shaved old fuel filler hole that was on the side of cab with metal. Two brand new doors. Both driver and passenger side door hinges were rebuilt, with new pins and bushings and lubed up good.New tailgate, but needs guts to function.New outside handles with new gaskets.New locks with new gaskets, but I’ve lost the keys so you’ll need to get new ones. You can get 2 door and ignition matching lock key set for 23.95$. Drip rail was left, but worked inside to flow smoothly into cab body.New adjustable rubber stops for hood bumpers.New Chrome front bumper.New Headlight Bezels driver and passenger side.New Headlights, driver and passenger side.New Parklight/turn signal assemblies with new wiring and housing etc., driver and passenger side.New Brake light covers, passenger and driver side. Inner housing was painted too.New Reverse light covers, passenger and driver side.Removed old sliding rear window and replaced with solid one piece glass for a cleaner look.New windshield.New Beaded window seals for driver and passenger side doors.New Door channel guide for driver and passenger side doors.New window rubber for rear window and windshield.New chrome door sill plates.New radiator support rubber.New cab mount.New door felt kit, driver and passenger side.New vent window weatherstripping, driver and passenger side.New door glass channels.New door rubber seals, driver and passenger side. *One person asked me or mentioned it would be a good idea to have the pics of it in bare metal while it was being done, to see the floor pan etc.. Unfortunately, while I was in the military and away, some thieves thought it'd would be a good idea to break into the storage unit (3 times) where my truck was being stored.. They stole 10k plus of my tools and other things.. One of the things being one of my tool boxes that had most all the pictures of the truck like that.. The main concern was that it had a solid floor pan and how the underneath looked/looks.. Good points and I understand. The floor pan didn't and doesn't have any rust and was and is solid. The underneath was sprayed with black under coating, and frame with black. Nothing fancy but it's fine and doesn't look like you just pulled it out of a junk yard.. Btw I spent ton$ just in storing it thru the years, not that it matters to anyone. PaintAll paint is high quality Dupont. It’s a super black base, with clear. After all body work was done. It was was etch primed, primed and block sanded. Sealer was used over primer. The base coat is a custom mix super black, three coats of base were used. Four coats of clear were used. The clear was wet block sanded. So much sanding took place, finger tips were literally sanded thru, to the point of bleeding. Much time was taken block sanding, buffing, and polishing out the finish, to get a super slick deep wet look. All Panels were treated with corrosion protection behind panels. All panels from self etch primer, primer, sealer, base, clear were sprayed with Dupont. I custom painted the Black Widow on the hood. The story behind it is, while building the truck there was a Black Widow living in the bottom of one of my tool boxes. I knew I was painting the truck black, but wanted to do a little something different but not over the top or gaudy. So I liked what I saw in my mind and knew the lines of the spider would look cool and it wouldn’t be so noticeable it’d get old after time or be tacky, and it hasn’t. With the surrounding areas being a satin black finish, and the spider itself being shine like the rest of the truck, it kind of looks as if it moves when the reflections are hitting it. But it blends well into the truck and doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. So not something you’d probably get tired of seeing. The Grill- The metal part of the grill I sprayed with House Of Kolor Silver Mini Flake.. When not in direct light it is very understated and just looks like a gun metal gray. But when light hits hit, especially sun light it pops big time, but with the rest of the truck being black it isn’t over the top, so it’s a nice balance and just something different that you don’t normally see. The black on the metal part of grill was pin striped with House Of Kolor Black. The flat area where Chevrolet is, was sprayed with an extra coarse aluminum. The Plastic part of grill that is black- Was sprayed as well, in the clear I added a very slight amount of the metal flake to tie it into the metal part of the grill, but it’s barely noticeable. *The Grill was in really good condition when I had bought the truck, So I’m not sure if it was original or not, almost too nice to be. Interior InteriorThe Interior was gutted, also taken down to bare metal. Sprayed with a rubberized undercoating on floor pan and up the inner firewall and back of cab, to help with sound deadening. The entire inside of the truck was also sprayed with the same black paint as the outside, so it matches perfect. In those same areas it was also insulated.New carpet was installed and also to the back of cab and up inner firewall.New glove box.New dome light.New window and door handles, sprayed satin black. The the rest of the interior, door panels, dash pad, visors, headliner, glove box lid, and seats. Have been redone, so it’s not original. The seats are Captain van bucket seats. Not sure the exact model of van they came out of, but they are very comfortable. The color is kind of a burgundy and black, it goes with the Black Widow. The steering wheel and shifter lever was painted to match the grill with metal flake. So it further ties in with the outside. It doesn’t currently have a stereo. Which in my opinion is better for the buyer, because they can choose a setup that they like and not what someone else liked. It also doesn’t have heat or AC. It doesn’t bother me it’s a hotrod. But if that’s something you have to have then go for it. I’ve never needed either, so didn’t see a need. New Oil pressure and water temp gauges.New seat belts, driver, passenger, and middle lap just in case you wanna toss somebody in the floor or decide to get a bench, it’s there. MiscTrim/Molding-I still have most all the trim (most of it is in really good condition, even some new pieces), there may be one or two pieces missing, which can be purchased easily, but it will be going with the truck. Since these trucks have a huge after market/OEM supply and numerous companies have catalogs etc. Anyway like previously mentioned, the truck is an original CST (Custom Sport Truck) which had the top and bottom moldings and the front and back marker lights on fenders and bedsides. If you ever did want to put the trim back on you would be able to, they do sell clips that would allow it to be attached back on with out drill any holes. That was one part the reason why I shaved them all, so I’d have an option to have it with or without trim. New Voltage RegulatorAnother glove box lid, with hinge.I think I still have another instrument gauge panel. Two Shop Repair/Service Manuals and Owners manual. The truck is being sold as is, no warranty. The buyer will be responsible for all shipping responsibilities, cost arrangements for shipping etc. I reserve the right to pull truck from auction at any time, it will be listed in other ways. >Actual original vehicle mileage is unknown<.. But Since all work mentioned above has been done, it may have a few hundred miles on the drive train -Engine,Trans etc.. Good luck bidding, hope the right person gets it!
