Vehicle Detail

This has been my daily driver for almost 10 years. Pretty much all the miles are 50% county highway and 50% interstate. This Jeep has no problem doing 75-80mph down the I. It has also been wheeled a bit, maybe 5-6 times on mild to intermediate trails, mostly when I first bought it in 06/07 until I picked up a YJ I built up to use off road. I also had it on the pipeline (what's left) in August and it did great on the rock crawl up Thunder Mountain which is about the only obstacle left. Walked right up on 31's with only the rear locked. It has been extremely reliable but over the past two years its been starting show its age. Last year I put in a new O2 sensor and oil pump drive assy. This year a new water pump and clutch kit. Mechanically it seems fine right now. Starts good, brakes are fine - no grinding/pulling/noises, no steering wobble or looseness, and it still has plenty of power. The 6 speed literally shifts like the day I drove it home. The transfer case is perfect as well. Probably due for brakes sometime soon as I think its been about 2 years since I last did an axle. The rear locker indicator blinks and won't go steady when you turn it on, but it is definitely locking and works fine. Its been that way for years and years now and its just not worth pulling the diff to replace the sensor. The locker sensor is known to break on these, but that doesn't effect operation at all other than the annoying flashing vs solid light in the dash. The front locker/sensor works fine last I tested in August. I relocated the locker pumps under the steering column about a month after I bought it so they don't get smashed up. You get both the black hard top pictured as well as a VG++ factory "Sunrider" khaki soft top with tinted windows. Only used it 2 or 3 summers and rarely took the windows out when I did have it on. Not pictured but trust me its nice. Tires/wheels all match and are 31x15 BFG AT2's on Cragar black steels. 33x15 will bolt on and you'll have no issues with rubbing and you won't loose overdrive either. I did run 33's for a about two years but they hurt MPG by 2-3 so I went back to 31's after that. All the Rubicon extras are here: 4:1 low range, front/rear lockers, rock sliders, D44 axles, and so on. The only "Rubicon" parts it doesn't have are the original aluminum wheels and tires. I have a bunch of milder offroading upgrades on this Jeep: ARB Safari snorkel - note this is currently zip tied to the windshield hinge because I dropped the windshield recently. All the brackets are there though. OME (Old Man Emu) 2" lift springs+shocks - almost universally considered to be the best suspension lift under 3". JKS poly 1 1/4" body lift belly-up skid plate - forget the manufacturer but it is nicer than the Teraflex one I have on my YJ front/rear rockcrusher D44 cast diff covers nth degree oil pan skid JKS motor mount lift Accessory 6 circuit fuse panel near driver's lower door hinge. 4-lo locker bypass wired up but the switch broke, was removed, and never replaced. But the relays etc. are still in place inside that unused pass. air bag disable cavity. ...probably more I'm forgetting The winch and winch plate pictured in some of my photos is NOT included with the sale. I also have a full set of four correct 03-06 Rubicon axle shafts I will include as well as a box or two of pull-offs, spares, etc. I still have a YJ and CJ but I will try to give you all the TJ parts I still have/can find. The issues this Jeep currently has are: * By far the most serious problem is that the windshield frame is completely rotted on the bottom where it meets the seal. I don't mean its rusty - I mean its gone. You can't tell from the exterior but you can see rust through holes on the interior in the corners. Those corner holes developed quickly and prompted me to drop the WS which is when I found the extent of the damage was much worse. It needs to be replaced ASAP. There's really nothing left to sit against the cowl seal. FORTUNATELY the cowl of the tub does not seem to be affected at all. So if you replace the frame and seal you should be 100% good to go w/ no welding in patch panels or anything like that required. If you let it go though I'm sure it will go downhill quickly. * Tailgate is not original to this Jeep. Its from an earlier TJ and I painted it black w/ CC just for basic protection. Its a bit dented up (how I received it) and has some cracks that have been welded but it might still have some small cracks or new ones starting. The tire carrier is a bit dented as well but otherwise stilll functional otherwise. Tailgate lock doesn't match the rest of the locks but I do have the proper tumbler from my old TG and will include in sale. Simple to swap - just a bunch of torx bolts and a clip. * Rust - nothing major beyond the windshield frame already described. The undercarriage looks really good with only some surface rust, like on the edge of some of the seams and things like that. Floor pans are fine. There is a bubble on the top of each front fender about 2" in diameter. I see that a lot on these. There's a little rust forming on the weld seam behind the fuel filler. There's also a tiny spot (1" or less) starting to bubble under a very small section of the pass. rear flare. The metal around where the sliders bolt on is starting to rust a bit too. Take them off and they should still clean up almost perfect w/ sanding & repaint. The wheels are cragar black steelies and some of these have some bubbling/rusting too. They also should clean up nicely with sanding, prep & paint. The frame is solid. Some surface rust on weld seams and occasion surface spots but nothing out of the ordinary and probably better than most of this age. I tried to wipe down the frame w/ oil every fall and I think it helped delay the rust but ultimately probably didn't do much. Keep in mind this is 9yo. Jeep driven in WI/IL winters on the heavily salted interstate. Axles and tie rods, etc. aren't really that rusty either but of course have typical spots on sharp edges, etc. * Minor rock chips, some filled w/ touch up, some not. Also some tree branch pinstriping that would probably buff out. If looks are important to you the whole Jeep would greatly benefit from a good detailing w/ a clay bar or even mild wet sanding. Paint is shiny but you can tell it could be better with some work. * Dents - drivers front fender has a small dent next to the direction lamp. Front pass. bumper is a bit pushed in. A very hard to see little dent (like 1/4") in the hood where I must have closed it on a tool or something. * Blower for the heat/AC doesn't work. I doubt its the blower - probably the switch or resistor pack. It used to work, then lost all speeds except hi 2-3 years ago, then hi went out last spring and I just never bothered to fix it yet. * Drivers seat has a small cig burn in the bottom. * Stock fog lights were removed but I'm pretty sure I still have them in my spares boxes. One had a broken mount that couldn't easily be fixed which is why I removed them at one point and went with aftermarkets but those are now gone too. * Typical surface rust on the windshield/door hinges. Not really surface rust but rust colored staining over the clearcoat really. I've successfully removed most of this in the past w/ bug & tar remover and elbow grease. * Front door locks don't work. Got sick of replacing the $2 plastic clips on the linkage that snapped every time someone pulled the handles too hard when it was locked so just left them last time they broke. * Fan shroud has a couple of cracks. The top one doesn't affect anythign but there's one on the bottom that has been "twined" a bit so fan won't make contact. A few minutes with some jb weld or gorilla glue would fix this all right up. Other than all these little problems its pretty good. Interior is nice other than the tiny cig burn and the drv. floor mat is a bit worn. Small crack on top of console lid and drivers doorcard. Oddly enough these just appeared out of nowhere on one of the very cold days we had last winter. Has factory subwoofer in the console and its still functional even w/ my aftermarket head unit. Stock head has been replaced with a Sony MP3 head unit - no CD - no moving parts to break. The face detaches and you can actually hide a connected iPod or USB flash drive inside the head unit. Very slick setup. I have more photos, mostly of the underside, I can send on request. Some of them picture a winch on the Jeep - I removed the winch, winch plate, and all associated wiring/plumbing two weeks ago - those are NOT included in this sale. Carfax shows one accident. That was when I backed into another car in a parking lot, bending the stock tailgate and tire carrier. This was indeed previously listed a couple weeks ago but I pulled it when I realized I somehow had the category set to manuals & literature instead of an actual vehicle. Turns out you can't just change the category to an auto, so it took me a while to get it back out here. On Oct-09-15 at 02:38:50 PDT, seller added the following information: Will include 2 gals of z05 coolant with jeep. Couldnt find locally when i changed the water pump a few months ago so running just distilled water right now. New owner will need to drain half that water and add about 5 qts of z05 for freeze protection. On Oct-12-15 at 11:05:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Went through my garage this past weekend and gathered all the TJ parts together: * I have take-offs from the old tailgate: the lock tumbler that matches the door locks, a plastic cover, and the tailgate vent. * Four spare OEM axle shafts. Fronts will need ujoints replaced. * Two sets of stock TJ tow hooks. * The third brake light assembly. * ABS tray. This was removed a long time ago to make room for an electric air compressor that was later removed again. * Plastic trim + screws that attach to sides of windshield. Unfortunately I couldn't find my stock fog lights but in their place I will substitute a brand new steering box skid plate that I never installed. Good luck!
