Vehicle Detail
1963 FORD THUNDERBIRD This Thunderbird is a timeless classic. The elegant 2 door hardtop Bullet Bird is original in every respect from the Patrician Green metallic (Turquoise) paint and stainless steel trim to the z code 390 ci 4 bbc V8 producing 300 hp. This car features the 3 speed cruise-o-matic transmission, very rare factory AC, slide away steering wheel, power windows, power brakes, power steering, power driver's seat, factory am radio w/the Thunderbird logo, and factory original wheel covers with spinners. The entire automobile has been restored to original condition with all original parts. The exterior paint was redone in 2000, as well as the motor and exhaust system. The trim is stainless with no dents or dings and the chrome is in good condition, and some but not all of the rubber gasketing has been replaced. The radiator was completely rebuilt to original specifications and the entire braking system has been checked and replaced or repaired as necessary. Over $3,000 was spent for new cooling, braking, and running gear. The tires were replaced and have less than 2,000 miles on them. This T-bird is original down to the plastic wind deflectors on the vent windows and the plastic windshield wiper fluid bag in the engine compartment. The interior is spotless with only minor cracking on both door armrests. The under carriage is almost perfect. The car has 82,534 original miles but has been driven less than 2,000 miles since the restoration. It is unbelievably original down to the last detail including the owner's manual in the center console. As for the history of the car, it was purchased new in Georgia (no road salt) and stayed in the family with different owners of the same family. After the restoration in 2000, it sat in the owner's friend's body shop 6 car showroom, only driven about 300 miles until late 2008 when I bought the car. I have driven the car about 1500 miles since then. I bought the car from the owner in Atlanta, GA. The things I have repaired since 2008 include new headlight switch, brake light switch, both door power window motors, and power steering shaft seal. When I received the car, the air conditioner did not work (and was not needed by previous owner as he very seldom drove the car). I also drove very seldom only going a few short miles to local cruise-ins. However, this spring (2015) I had a professional air conditioning shop recharge the air conditioner, replace the expansion valve, desiccant dryer, and flush the heater core, getting it all working right. It now blows very cold air and works great. Also this spring I installed a new Sears Gold Diehard battery. This is a very nice car and I would say the paint is a 9.5 out of 10. There are no dings and the interior is also very nice. The seats don't show any wear and the vinyl dash is beautiful. The headliner is in great shape. I would encourage anyone to come and inspect this car. You will not be disappointed.
