Vehicle Detail

Hi! And Thanks for looking! See this nice Red 1997 Honda Civic Del Sol? It belongs to a friend. It is VERY solid bodywise as well as underneath. Suspension mounting points, floors, and subframe, all look great. A little rust in the usual place, right where the rear bumper cover meets the rear wheel openings.(see close up pix) VERY nice interior. No rips or holes in the seats, or cracks in the dash or door panels. Everything except the Air Conditioning, clock, and the outside passenger side door handle, work as they should. Car runs and drives. 1.6L engine was said to have been replaced a few years ago with a low mileage (don't know how many) unit from a Junk Yard wreck, and runs smooth and quiet. No smoke (at all!) or scary noises. In fact when you sit in the car, even with the windows open, you cannot hear it running. Brakes, axle 1/2 shafts, exhaust, and tires all redone within the last year or so. I have driven this car around quite a bit in the last week. Drives and stops straight. Odometer shows 191,160 miles. Title says "Non Actual Miles...Odometer Discrepancy". This is due to the engine change. Whenever an engine is changed in Ohio, they mark the title as such. No big deal. So.....why is it for sale, you might be asking yourself, right about now? Well.....The engine will sometimes (not every drive, but enough to be annoying!) randomly lose power. Like it's (briefly) not getting fuel. Not necessarily "stall" but sometimes when you upshift and step on the gas, nothing happens. Engine returns to idle. ( In fact...it will sit here and idle all day long.) Then it comes back to life as normal. No check engine light or codes are set when this happens. There are "0" codes stored in memory, and the MIL status is "OFF". Work performed,by me, in the last week, to remedy this issue, in the order performed, are: New Fuel Filter, and a bottle of "HEET" dry gas, along with a few gallons of fresh fuel. Test drove....no difference.New Airtex Fuel Pump and Strainer. Test drove...no difference.New "Main" relay....Test drove....no difference.New Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)...Nope.New Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) and Thermostat (why not!)...Nope.Cleaned and tested IAC, checked for random vacuum leaks, cleaned and checked all grounds and checked all fuses.....Same issue exists. Lets be clear....this car has never left my friend stranded. It always "recovers" and gets him home. He was driving it daily until last week, when he dropped it off with me to have a look at. He is "SO DONE" (his words!) throwing $$ at this problem, and I am out of ideas for him, so..he bought another car,and wants this gone! I have the car, the receipts for the parts, and a clear, transferable, signed and notarized, Ohio Title waiting for the new owner. Opening bid is low, and more than fair for this car. NO RESERVE. Buyer has 3 business days to pay for it in full, via PayPal or Cash.Buyer has up to 30 days free outdoor storage, here at my place,to arrange to come and get it or have it done for you. I will not ship this car. That is all your responsibility. Located in NE Ohio appx 20 miles South of Cleveland, and 45 Minutes West of the Ohio/PA border, near Akron. Zip code is 44281. As popular as Del Sols are with the Tuner/Hot Rodding community, chances are good that this cars new owner has an Acura or VTEC Swap in mind anyhow, and this phantom issue won't matter. Or perhaps you know exactly what the issue with this is, and just want a 40 mpg driver, either way...good luck bidding. High bidder gets it!
