Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1998 Dodge Ram Dually Diesel because I rarely use it. I wish this Dodge was my first truck as it would have been the only one I ever owned. I bought the truck in 2010 to replace an old Chevy Suburban that I used for years to tow with but don't do any towing now. I removed the pickup box and put the dumping flatbed on to haul my coal which is about all I use it for anymore. It had 92,000 on it when I bought it. The guy used it in the summers to haul a camper and horse trailer. He stored it inside and never used it in winters. I don't have a place to get it inside so it has sat out in winter for the last five years but wasn't driven in the New York road salt. The former owner wanted to be able to control the Engine Brake at will so he put a two speed rear axle switch on the shift lever where you can turn the Engine Brake on and off anytime you want. Other than that it is all stock. The engine has never had a chip, programmer or been messed with. The transmission started whining in January of 2012 at 105,000 so I bought a rebuilt and put in it. It had a one year unlimited mileage warranty and after two years and 4,000 miles 3rd gear syncro started getting weak. Shifts fine into 3rd cold but will grind when warmed up if you shift to fast. Other than that it works fine. It was a little less expensive than some and I guess I got what I paid for. A couple of years ago the bearing went bad in the clutch on the A/C compressor, it got hot and set up. Before that the A/C was ice cold. I put the drive belt on it for non A/C and that is how it still is. The A/C not working, 3rd gear syncro and broken latch on the sliding rear window are all that is wrong with this truck. The flat bed was off an older truck and in fair shape. The manifold pressure sensor and fuel lift pump were replaced right after I bought the truck. When the trans was put in, the clutch, pressure plate, pilot and throw out bearings were replaced. In the last two years and 5,000 miles it has had: Turbo back exhaust, waste gate actuator, two new batteries and 4 rear snow tires. In the last year and 2,500 miles it has had: all ball joints, front hub/rotors, brake pads, calipers, both rear parking brake cables and front tires. The flat bed is electric over hydraulic and has a wireless remote for dumping. I haul and dump 2.5 ton of coal. It has a tow hitch with 4 pin flat and 7 pin round electrical plug-ins. $500 deposit by Paypal within 24 hours of bid closing. Full payment of either cash on delivery or certified check due within 7 days of winning bid. If paying by check, funds may take 5-15 days to clear and there will be no transfer until my bank tells me the funds are delivered. I am willing to talk about help with delivery if needed by driving the truck but fuel will need to be paid for.
