I am offering for sale a 1992 Mercedes Benz 300SL that I purchased a few months ago as a project. I quickly ran out of patience and ended up getting another one that I plan on keeping. The car runs/drives/stops as is, but will definitely need work. When I bought it, I was aware that the odometer was not running, the gas hand was inoperable, the A/C did not blow cold, and the third brake light was out. The hard top was on the car and the previous owner said that the power function of the soft top works, but I don't know if it does or not because the button fell into the console and I haven't bothered to get it out. Here's everything I know about the car: The Good:-The hardtop is present-The lights work (I repaired the third brake light)-The odometer is now operable (I had it repaired), true miles unknown-I replaced the distributor cap/rotor, spark plugs/wires, thermostat, air filter, and oil/filter-I replaced the fuel level sender, so the gas hand works-Power windows work, but the passenger side acts up sometimes The BAD:-Air blows from the vents, but it's not cold at all (prior owner said it worked). Compressor doesn't kick on-The seat cushion leather needs to be replaced, along with the hardtop headliner, and probably the whole soft top-I don't know if the power soft top works at all-Brakes need servicing-It sounds like there is a leak at the exhaust manifold-The steering wheel telescopes in/out, but does not go up/down-The power driver seat doesn't work in all directions-Some of the interior trim needs replacing I drove it from the Nashville area to Memphis in June, but to be safe, I would recommend towing it. After sitting in the driveway for most of the time I have had it, the engine just doesn't sound as good as it did when I bought it. The car is being sold as is, where is, and the starting price is a lot less than what I have put in it. I do not have a reserve on this auction.
