Vehicle Detail
This sale is for a 1969 American Motors Javelin SST. This is a non running restoration project. The car has no motor or transmission. It needs everything. This is a very rare car. It is a Big Bad Orange with the Mod Package consisting of the Roof spoiler and Simulated Exhaust Rocker Moldings. Other factory options include the 390 4V motor and 4 speed trans. Front disc brakes, Twin Grip, and 140mph speedo and tach. Has the hooded dash over the gauges. The car needs floor pans and a trunk pan. both lower quarters. That is only a start. The car has all the usual rust that most all Javelin's eventually get when neglected. Have the front bumper and would make a good core. There is a pile of trim with the car which was said to be there although I never took inventory. The grille is in two pieces and may or may not be restored. Wheels and tires not part of the sale. Will come with rollers. This car as many others with big motors were street raced and beat and ran hard untill the original motor, in this case the 390 was blown. (WHICH WAS LONG GONE WHEN I GOT THE CAR) The mill held up very well as it appears it was last on the road in the early 1980's. Then parked in a garage at some point. What is left of the original paint is very nice. Although parked outside since my purchase it hasn't sat out all that long. It has had several owners while in this condition. I purchased it and brought it to Ohio. I have the original WVa title signed and ready to go. Big Bad FYI Amx's and Javelins were both made with the paint option. If you are into finding out more there is a registry for these cars and something like 900 Javelins were made and under 50 are known. It is interesting to note that you could get a base small engine with 0 options with Big Bad paint. There is no breakdown for engines/trans and options. Pretty sure less then a handful of 390 4 spd. cars in any condition survive. As far as I know this car is off the radar. I wish to remain private. I'll let the winner (if sold) make the choice to register the car if he/she chooses. FYI A heads up to those who want to buy parts from the car. Please do not waste your time. No parts from the car will be sold. Sould you want parts be prepaired to buy the car. Also please do not ask for my phone number and ask questions that are already posted or make small talk as a ruse to ask what the reserve is or "what I want ?" It is an auction. Bid what you want to pay. If you have 0 feedback or very little I expect contact from you prior to you placing a bid. I may contact you Without a simple email or reply I will have NO OTHER CHOICE then to cancel your bid. :( The car is for sale. Super low reserve and reserve is only there to protect it from those who bid it up only to cancel their bid in the last hour of the sale making their back up friends the winner. Tired of the many games and deadbeats. If you are outside the US I welcome your interest. Please contact me prior to placing a bid. **QUESTIONS ** If you have a question please use the ebay ask a question tab. Using the Ask A Question tab is just easier for me due to my work and very busy schedule. Keep in mind the vehicle is not parked in my living room so I may have to go out and review. On Sep-23-15 at 00:01:26 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked several times during the sale for pics of the trim tag. The car has a trim tag. The tag is in good condition. It is correct. I did not feel it was needed when taking pics of the car for the sale. Seeing that it is an original paint Big Bad Orange Javelin and in keeping it's original DNA private. I can assure anyone who may be wondering. It has the correct codes for paint and interior. On Sep-26-15 at 17:51:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I will address several more questions. As you can see the tops of the front fenders are not rusted through. The troughs and frame rails are good as well. I would like this car go to someone who has an appreciation and respect for American Motors. Not some idiot thinking the only way to build something is with a Chevy engine or anything else for that matter other then AMC power. For those who consider Chrysler and AMC "family" and think a Mopar engine would be a good choice. A better one would be installing a Fiat engine in a Roadrunner.
