Description The story behind this bike starts eight months ago. We saw it for sale as a non running bike, which was clearly in need of love! We had a vision for what we wanted the bike to look and ride like, and are pleased with the result. There have been countless custom touches built into this machine, but the overall goal was a cafe racer style, with a mean aggressive look that was still comfortable and maintained a portion of the classic lines of these BMW airheads. The result just won the motorcycle division of a local car show... the bike turns heads everywhere it goes, and even those who dislike motorcycles have expressed interest in the look of the bike. Condition Body Good engine Good Paint Good transmission Good Interior Excellent Suspension Average Wheels Excellent Brakes Average Tires 90%+ Tread A/C N/A Notes Tires were new when we bought the bike, and the carbs had just been rebuilt, then it sat for a year or so. We disassembled them, cleaned them and put them all back together and synced them. However, we aren't BMW motorcycle specific mechanics, so we adjusted the valves, and got the carbs synced pretty good, then promptly changed to a much higher flowing (less back-pressure) exhaust. They likely need new jets, but the bike runs great as is and fires immediately. It takes a solid 10-15 minutes to warm these bikes up, and this one is no exception. Once warm, it is smooth and powerful. Gears are fairly tall. Suspension is average. Forks could probably use new seals. Front brakes are like new, and rears need new pads. This particular year is especially nice because it has dual disk brakes in front, as well as rear disk brakes. The body work is all custom. Tank was resurfaced, primed, and painted with satin black and satin gray pinstripes and racing stripe. This carries over to the custom shortened front fender. The rear subframe was shortened, but left long enough to allow two passengers (a rare but nice touch for a cafe bike). The seat was custom fabricated and covered with a true buffalo hide and it is a beautiful soft supple leather with a really cool patina to it. Handlebars were lowered, with new grips, clutch is strong, and bar end mirrors are very effective for rear viewing. Exhaust is custom and has a great sound to it (listen to the bike in the video). Miles are under 44k but we changed the instrument cluster, moved it lower and closer to the bars, as well as lowered the headlight and tucked it in closer as well. No doubt there are many things we are forgetting. But we love the bike and are excited to share it with another enthusiast! Please contact us with any questions!
