1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible. Only 1,997 XR7 convertibles were ever built in 1970, and this one has been a California car it's entire life. I bought this Cougar 5 years ago and am the 3rd owner and have driven it about 3,000 miles. This Cougar was first sold at Dick Anderson Ford-Mercury in Madera, California 93637. It then made its way to the Bay Area with the original owner and has been in this area since. It was originally Deep Gold Metallic. Interior is original Ginger with Ginger leather on front seats. This is one loaded XR7 Convertible as it was ordered with almost every option available. Sequential turn signals work great as well as the rim-blow horn.Since I have owned the car, the following work has been performed:2010New convertible top, radiator, heater core (this alone was an all day job), thermostat, replaced all radiator and heater hoses, all belts, radiator cap, flushed and serviced transmission, flushed brake system, new dual exhaust with Turbo mufflers, new Firestone Firehawk white letter radial tires and alignment.2012New front suspension including upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie-rod ends, idler arm, upper shaft kit, sway bar link kit, strut rod bushings, new Monroe shocks, full tune-up including plugs, points, condenser, rotor, cap, plug wires, pcv valve and fuel filter, new battery, alternator and voltage regulator, rebuilt transmission shift assembly, repacked front wheel bearings. Convertible top works great, switch works, but button falls off. Replacement switch included with car.Cigarette lighter,left door speaker do not work. Headlights turn on, but hide-away covers stay closed.This Cougar runs great and does not burn oil. I took it on a 700 mile trip last summer.
