Up for sale is my 1981 Honda XL500S Enduro Dual-Sport bike. This bike is an all original 1981 4-stroke 'thumper' and runs great, it starts on the first kick with plenty of power. As explained in the condition this bike IS all original and you should expect the normal wear and tear to be present from a 30+ year old bike. There are a few scratches, dings and small dents along the bike however the bike is in considerably good condition for it's age. Tires have plenty of tread left and are knobby style, brakes work well - though the rear does stick at times. To be street legal you will need to find 1 front turn signal and 1 rear, easily had here on eBay and the bike will be road worthy. The 6volt battery is weak however the bike does not have electric start and the stater provides plenty of power to illuminate the original headlamp. My reason for selling is this bike is simply too large for what I am looking for. The bike is great both on and off-road though it's just a bit more than I prefer to handle on challenging technical trails and therefore I am seeking a 250cc sized bike. 80's 4 stroke thumpers in complete running and road-worthy condition are becoming difficult to find. This bike sounds mean, has plenty of power and is reliable - with a couple bucks and a few man hours this will be road ready or would serve as a great platform for a custom cafe racer.
