Vehicle Detail

1998 740i, 20k since Transmission was replaced 200,500 miles. Drives great, awesome highway car. Silver/ Gray – the paint is not perfect but its better than average for a ‘98 – no dents, few minor door dings; leather & wood are in great shape. The good: Motor is very smooth, transmission shifts great, A/C is cold – everything works as it should (except for the notes below) I don’t want to say nothing leaks as she is not brand new; but we have never had to add fluids between oil changes and it leaves NO drips in the driveway. I bought this car several years ago for my mother to drive – when I bought it the car was in overall great condition but the transmission was slipping. I had a rebuilt transmission put in (~$4k) – it shifts perfect and smoothI had the fluids, filters and belts replacedNew shocks installedNew front tires (Pirelli’s)Replaced the stereo (with OEM) – the pixels were out/ dim –new unit works great About a two years (~7,500 miles) ago: New brake pads and front rotorsNew wheel bearingsNew gas tankNew rear tires The questionable: I took it for emissions testing in GA 2 years ago and it failed, mechanic checked the codes and said it needed a new catalytic converter, rather that replacing it since it ran great we just registered it in SC since that’s where mom is driving it anyway i.e. if you live somewhere that requires emissions testing – it will need a catalytic converter Random stalling: About a month ago it began randomly shutting off at red lights (immediately starts right back up every time) – would happen one day and not again for a week, so on and so fourth – took it in and they replaced the mass air flow sensor ($357) – seemed fine. Then last week it stalled at a light – took it back in and they said it was probably a vacuum leak but it did not reoccur.. While they were checking the stalling issue, they replaced a hose and apparently were rough on it because the end on the radiator where the hose connects started leaking on the way home. Note: rockauto.com sells the radiator for $75 That said – it definitely needs a radiator and it has some kind of vacuum leak or something else is causing it to randomly shut off when idling. The only other issue is that the pixels on the dashboard are bad – sometimes you can see the mileage – sometimes you can’t – this is very common and lots of folks on ebay offer repair services / replacement That said – I am in Georgia, I got a new car and gave mine to Mom last month so she is no longer driving it – Sister took it to NC a few weeks ago; it is at her house outside of Asheville. Since I am not there to talk to the mechanic/ deal with it myself, just spent $500+ for someone to sell me parts I don’t need and to break the neck off the radiator on a car I don’t need or drive – it’s time to sell. Please give her a good home – I love the car but don’t need two 7’s. On Aug-29-15 at 16:50:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: total mileage is 200k; transmission replacement was at ~180k. Awesome car, cant believe I am actually selling it
