Bringing Classic and Collectable Car Buyers Bringing Classic and Collectable Vehicle Buyers & Seller Together Worldwide 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Yenko Clone recreation Copo Up for auction is this completely rust free 1966 Chevrolet Corvair. The owner built this car with a Yenko theme in mind, and didn’t try to fool anyone with the color, stripes, or fake badging. It does have 3 Yenko decals on it, but they can be removed, the car still commands attention. He has never owned, nor been around this solid of a Corvair. The owner has owned 10+ late model coupes and even an early convertible. He also has worked on countless others. The owner has been a Corsa Member and held every office in his local club and has seen a lot of rusted Corvairs. All original Midwest cars have had some sort of rust, but NOT this one. He did not break one bolt during this labor of love, not one rounded fastener. You can spend a lot of time fighting the rust and still have a marginal car when you are done, the owner has done it before. He is not saying this car is perfect, you can always improve on some things, but it’s a great driving car. Both rear wheel bearing units modified to accept grease fitting, good units cleaned and greased. Access fitting inside drum. Front hubs disassembled and installed new bearings and seals. Stock drums at all 4 corners, with new arc matched shoes from Brake Materials INC. in Fort Wayne, IN (ask Claypool). New flexible lines and rebuilt wheel cylinders, wasn’t happy with the parts house “new” cylinder quality. Chrome front backing plates, Dual Master Cylinder conversion, from a mid-sixties Cadillac. This is and always has been a rust free body. Never a panel, floor pain or battery box ever replaced. Original doors, deck lids, and body. The only major piece ever replaced was the front windshield glass. The car spent most of its life in a dry area of Colorado, in 1988 or 89 it was moved to the Midwest for restoration. The owner media blasted the whole car before minor body modifications. The owner had turbo cut outs installed into the rear valance panel on both sides, for a clean dual exhaust exit. The owner debadged the car and filled the holes. The owner added a Yenko style rear deck lid spoiler, tastefully mounted, no filler to crack. Electrical, Custom LED tail/brake light inserts. These are lens-sized circuit board lights, NOT just an LED bulb. Higher amperage internally regulated alternator cleans up engine compartment, no old school regulator, with Corvair tech guide modified harness, and hidden wiring on alternator. New M&H (Corsa, 140) body and engine harness, M&H builds the harness for the vendors. Rebuilt and repainted starter, new solenoid. Engine, T0419RH 140hp. Clarks deep sump aluminum oil pan and extended pick up. SC Performance tall rocker covers to clear roller rockers. 280 camshaft, pistons .060 oversized. Stock magnesium fan with aluminum fan pulley and idler. Stock 140 distributor with Pertronix and Flame Thrower coil. Custom powder coated engine sheet metal, rarely looks dirty due to texture and color. Grants, custom primary carbs, stock 140 secondaries with 1965 style linkage (no lockout) and fuel lines. Vintage shorty headers and 2 inch u pipes into dual mufflers, nice mellow sound. Exits through rear valance through dual turbo style cut outs. Fuel- Original rust free tank, cleaned and painted externally. New filler neck rubber and vent hoses. AC electric fuel pump, new sending unit, filter and flexible hoses. Only had 93 octane since restoration. Interior, Corbeau suspension seats with Corvair specific seat tracks. (Similar to Recaro) Corsa Cluster and glove box door. New grey headliner and carpet. Body color on all steel interior pieces. 67 style dash pad, 2000 Geo rear seat, nice fit and decent match to front. Sony CD, USB, AUX head unit with detachable face and remote. 14 inch wood grain Grant GT steering wheel. Padded 1968 sun visors, stock rearview mirror. Custom tweed door panels with new arm rest bases and original accent chrome. Suspension and wheels- 16 x 8 Extreme wheels with Toyo 205 50 16 Rear and 195 50 16 Front, Monroematic front shocks, Red Rider Rear. One coil cut on front and rear springs. Most suspension pieces and transmission mount blasted and powder coated. Front 15/16 and rear 7/8 anti roll bar, urethane bushings, leco quick steering arms and stock steering box. New upper ball joints, shift stabilizer rod bushings. Urethane inner control arm bushings (rubber outer) good handling less harsh. Transmission and clutch. New clutch cable, rebuilt 140/180 pressure plate, and flywheel, new clutch disc, and throw out bearing, viton crank seal. 1966 3.27 to 1 ratio, open differential (not Psi) 4 spider gears. Stock 66 transmission, cleaned, painted, new seals and fluid. Trim. NOS wheel opening molding, one newer GM packaging, 3 sets of older packaging. The owner noticed the older ones were nicer trim, maybe the stamping dies were newer? New production rocker trim. Rechromed bumpers, ( The Vair Shop, Claypool). All stainless trim removed and professionally machine polished. Original headlight buckets for this car, repainted black accent and cleaned. 1967 wiper arms, originally brushed dull stainless, polished to look high gloss stainless. Many mistook for chrome. NOS 66 Corsa rear air grill (below bumper). All 4,66 style (narrow band) tail and back up lights. There is a difference! Dual stainless exhaust tips, original door handles, and exterior lock cylinders (polished and new gaskets). Shaved emblems and grill bar (trunk lock surround)- Love that Yenko look! NOS Gas door stainless trim, new reproduction bowtie mirror. All new Soffseal weather stripping, doors, deckled, roof rail. New rubber bump stops on doors, deck lids, and gas door. New Stainless window fuzzies, not black edging. Gold cad plated engine lid rod. Custom cut Cavalier Z24 front spoiler, cut down top to bottom, and shortened legs that go toward wheel wells to fit. Many positive comments on this subtle, one-of-a-kind spoiler. This is a ton of information on the car but I think you should be able to tell that this baby has been well taken care of over the years and has many miles left. This would make a great car for any collector or the first time buyer. If you have any questions please feel free to call or email at any time.
