Vehicle Detail

Only 2,286 Chevelle SS Convertibles were built and not many had the 4 speed. Very Nice and Clean Real "138" Car Un-restored - I found this car stored away in an old dusty garage several years ago, the owner had taken the engine out because he thought the engine need work, but all it was they had installed the new timing chain and gears and didn't know they had to line up the marks lol. it had a bent pushrod and cracked rocker arm. So I put the motor back together, detailed it, all new gaskets, water pump, new rebuilt carb, and also rebuilt the 4 speed trans and installed a new clutch and pressure plate, and throw out bearing. Installed the motor and trans and if fired up and runs smooth and starts right away. So I buffed the 35 year old paint and it looks really nice, but its thin in areas and has small nicks and checking and tiny little specks , but really looks nice and straight from 5 feet. Then I had a new top installed and weather stripping, and had the front seats recovered and new seat foam, the top and seats were ok but need freshened up.the rest of the interior looks original, also has the rare working "Roller" Tachometer, and original all parts there center console. All the glass is real nice, I installed new rally wheels, 9 x 15 rear, 7 x 15 from, with new Firestone tires, has full stock exhaust, bumpers are very nice, even has T3 headlamps still. Also note that this car is a first day of production car at the Baltimore plant with it being the 17th car off the line, also notice the very early front fender badges that say both SS and 396. The car was originally Grado Blue and was repainted in 1979 I was told, at that time both rear qtr panels were replaced, and there appears to be no rust in the floors or trunk area, frame is very nice also. I tried to keep the car original looking and has a very nice Patina Muscle car look, because it has not been restored just cleaned up for nice driving. I put the car away for a few years in storage, and I just got it out and the throw out bearing seems like it is not releasing , or something with the clutch is stuck, it will not shift out of gears while running and as soon as the car is started with the clutch pedal pushed in the car is moving, and seems like the front wheel cylinder leaks and the front brakes need work so I guess with some weekend wrenching she will be road worthy again, I just have to many projects to mess with it now. Please Understand the car is not perfect but very rare and is very nice but not restored. Still has the 12 bolt rear axle, has front drum brakes, I do have a complete almost new front disc brake set up and a 1968 SS steering wheel and column that is tilt wheel and for a 4 speed car that can be purchsed at extra cost to the winning bidder. I will post more pictures later tonight, please ask any questions before bidding. The car is sold as is, and a $500 nonn refundable deposit through paypal is needed in 24 hours and balance to be paid in full within 7 days (not paypal)On Jul-15-15 at 05:48:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, I have a a lot of request for pictures of the console, front seats, I just realized that I did not include those, if you want to see them, I have a few of them to email you on request, also I do have the original Muncie Shifter and shift rods, and shift ball, and shift lever, all are very nice shape, I also have a good radiator, distributor, and brake booster, that goes with the car, they may be the originals , I have never checked. Please ask any questions or picture requests, thanks again, happy bidding. On Jul-18-15 at 08:39:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Ok, here is some more info, I have had requests for, the red line on the roller tach is 5500 rpm, the rear axle tube code is KJ 0905B the engine pad staping from the best I can read is T0102JQ 19?1534?2 i am really not sure about the last group of numbers on the engine stamp, they are hard to read and fading, also dont forget to ask for any pics of the interior of these stampings, I cannot add any more pics, but I can send them to you.
