Vehicle Detail

1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible, factory 348 car, very complete and in very good shape for a restoration project. The car is an original Tuxedo black car with a white top and red / white interior - the best colors possible! Originally a 3sp standard on the column, I purchased a period correct Borg Warner T-10 speed to go back in the car during restoration. I also have a brand new 348 tri-power engine to go back in the car built by famed 348/409 engine builder Stoney's in Virginia. I have receipts for over $9k in the engine/trans alone. About the only things missing for the drivetrain to be complete are the carbs, fuel lines, linkage, air cleaner and 4sp floor shifter w/ boot. I purchased the car from a older gentleman who owned it for many years in Nebraska and then moved to AZ and kept it pretty much garaged for about 18 yrs. You can see the original condition and how clean the body and interior are, especially the dash. Even the original radio is still in the car! The front seat is still the original upholstery and could even pass for driver quality. Those are some of the little things that tell you what kind of overall shape the car is in...way better than buying one that's been sitting in a field used as a planter box for anything that will grow. This car is NOT that at all! Restoring/rebuilding a car like this one is a much different experience than the other kind, rest assured. The car currently runs with a 283 engine that the prior owner put in replacing the original 348. He was apparently going for more gas mileage - go figure. Unfortunately, that engine is long gone, but the new 348HP Tri-Power engine is brand new and ready to go! I carefully disassembled the trim and chrome pieces to prepare the car for paint. I have every piece of trim and original bolts/fasteners that came off of it, including the rear seat and all door/quarter interior panels. I also bolted the bumpers back on and have the trim in PVC/conduit to prepare for shipping. I did replace the two floor pans just behind the front seat due to some small amounts of rust. Those were about the only areas that even warranted being replaced. The rest of the car is pretty straight and the metal is CLEAN! I also rebuilt the convertible top motor and hydraulic rams so it would function properly. I am reluctantly selling the car due to some unforeseen and unexpected financial matters. I had no intention of selling the car until it was completed, but I thought that in its current state, someone could take the car in just about any direction they might want...whether it's a 100% original or resto-mod...or anything in between? It's not often that you find a car like this that is so close to being a decent driver, and yet worthy enough to make a full 100 point show car. I'm asking $21k for everything, or I would consider taking $17,500.00 for the car without the 348 / 4sp...whichever one prefers?? I've had a few folks inquire about just selling the car without the motor and trans, and one so-called buyer that played around with me for the past week - only to back out at the last minute with some lousy excuse. So, I'm going to offer it up one more time and make someone a good deal. No more games and endless email chains...I'm not looking for any pen pal friends. Take a good look at what you see and we can talk on the phone about purchase options if you're seriously interested. I can be reached at (602)-376-9455 if you have any questions. Thanks for your interest.
