THIS AUCTION INCLUDES: PONTIAC TRANS AM PACE CAR, 400 ENGINE, 455 ENGINE, 428 BLOCK, BORG WARNER SUPER T 10 AND MUNCIE 4 SPEEDS, PLUS MANY EXTRA PARTS THAT I JUST COULD NOT GET IN THE PICTURES (YOU ONLY CAN HAVE 24 PICTURES). Up for auction today is a Pontiac Trans Am Indy 500 Pace Car. I am the second owner and have had this car since 1984. I drove it until 1990. The car has been kept in a storage building since then so that it would not be exposed to the weather. My intention was to restore it. Every car has a story. Here is this cars. I have tried to start the restoration process numerous times over the years but have come to the realization that I just don't have the resources to do the job right and it is not in my nature to do something this big half hearted. The car has had its ups and downs and I will describe them so that you know what you are getting. The car was was stolen once and it was missing its t tops and wheels when the police found it. Also, the thief drilled out the trunk lock cylinder and damaged the sheet metal in the process. I replaced the wheels with a set of 10th anniversary wheels that I had painted white. I replaced the silver/mirrored t tops as well. The bodyshop repaired the trunk lock cylinder by cutting out the section where the damaged lock cylinder was and welding in a section from a donor Firebird. This repair has rusted and needs to be redone and a new donor panel from a Firebird is included with this auction. When I got the car, it had 43557 miles on it and I drove it about 10k more when the turbo charger failed. I fixed the turbo charger and then it failed again. I decided not fix the turbo charger again because of the high cost of the repair and the fact that the turbo chargers Pontiac used for these applications were not reliable. Instead I replaced the whole engine with a 1977 YU block 400 cu in engine that I had rebuilt. The details of this setup are as follows. The engine was bored 30 over. A Comp Cams 268 cam drove the valve train combined with 62 casting heads for compression. A cast iron stock Pontiac 4 barrel intake (not the half moon rear barrel type) on intake side. Four tube headers along with a dual Flowmaster muffler setup on the exhaust side completed the build. My plan was to have an engine similar to the Ram Air III motors found in the early 2nd generation Firebirds. The engine ran really good but the 3.08 rear gear and the automatic transmission was not the best setup. So I got rid of the automatic transmission and I had a 4 speed installed in the car. It was a Muncie and the shifter was a Hurst Competition Plus. I drove the car most likely 25k before the Muncie transmission started to pop out of gear. This occurred in 4th gear only. I took the Muncie to a guy that I knew that rebuilt transmissions. He took it all apart to rebuild it but then I found a Borg Warner Super T10 that was just rebuilt so I bought that instead. The Muncie is still disassembled and stored in a plastic crate. I never installed the the Borg Warner because it was then that I put the car into storage where it has been ever since. The car has been in a accident. I got hit from behind (left rear) but I had it professionally repaired and was back on the road again. It has had its fair share of mishaps along the way. For some reason this car was prone to launching parts off the car while driving. One day on the freeway the front right wheel just came off the car. Launched like a missle into a field. I never found the wheel (its most likely still rolling) so I bought another silver 10th anniversary wheel and had it painted white. Apparently when I had the front bearings packed with grease, the mechanic did not put the cotter pin on the right axle hub and the bolt that held the wheel on worked its way off. Another day on the freeway the right side T Top flew off the car. I bought a set of smoked t tops because I could not find a silver one. The carb caught fire one day and the heat bubbled the paint on hood. I have accumulated a bunch of parts for this car. I have almost all new plastic interior parts. Many of them are NOS from GM. They may be new but they need to be painted oyster grey. I have new carpet for it as well. Somewhere in 2004 to 2005 I decided to go through the 400 engine with a friend of mine who specializes in rebuilding anything Pontiac. I wanted to check out my engine and learn how to rebuild one in the process. Here is what we did. We honed out the cylinders and installed new rings. I took the heads to a machine shop to have them and the valve train checked out. The heads needed a valve job on two valves so I had that done. Everything else checked out ok. I installed a new oil pump and water pump. I also installed a new timing chain set. I kept the original cam bearings and cam but went with new Cleveite 77 crank bearings. This engine has been sitting on its engine stand just waiting to be installed in the car. A couple years later I acquired a YC block 455 motor. I don't know its condition other than it was running when I pulled it apart. It came with a set of 6X-4 heads and a Crane cam. I believe its duration is 292. A little while later I acquired a 428 block. I am told it needs a sleeve and that is all I know about it. I was planning on using one these motors when I did my restoration. That brings us up with what I have done. The cars condition should be a solid car to restore. Auction winner gets everything I have told you about. The car, the engines, the transmissions, and the extra parts. You will need a truck and a trailer to haul it all off. I have many extra parts for it that the auction winner is welcome too. This includes an extra set of fenders. They will need the patch panels on the bottom edges because of rust. This is a cash sale. You bring the money and I will bring the title. Update: Here is the information on the Muncie transmission. It is a Muncie M20. Here are its production code numbers. On the main case the code number is 3925661. On the tail house the code number is 3978764. On the side cover the code number is 3922648. The production code number is P1E19A. This means that it is a Muncie M20,1971, May 19th, wide ratio: 2.52, 1.88, 1.46, 1.00 with a reverse ratio of 3.11. The input shaft has 26 fine splines with 2 rings. The output shaft has 26 fine splines with no rings. The car this came out of vin number is on the case as well. This number is 11k220091. This means that it was in a 1971 Chevrolet. The plant was Leads, Mo. The car was either a Corvette, Nova, Chevelle, Camaro, or Monte Carlo.On Jun-22-15 at 23:46:39 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Here is the information on the Borg Warner Super T10 transmission. The production code numbers are as follows. The date is WL1842. This means that this transmission was built by the Warner Gear Division on November 18th 1974 2nd shift. The car this came out of vin number is on the case as well. The number 15S406182. The means that this transmission was in a 1975 Chevrolet produced in St Louis Mo. On the left of the case there are the following numbers. 1304 065 903, followed by W.G. Div, followed by F.C 2. The 903 means this transmission has the aluminum case. The input shaft has 3 grooves. This means that this transmission is a wide ratio. 2.64, 1.75, 1.34, 1.00 with a reverse ratio of 2.55. It is the picture showing the inside of the wheel well on the drivers side. I assume maybe some of you ebayers are curious about it too.
