Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 This is the 1963 ½ Ford Galaxie fastback. I built it for my daughter as a college graduation present but it is getting so little use that by mutual consent we have decided to sell it. The car is the 390 with 3 speed manual transmission and overdrive. During the restoration the car received new brakes and new shock absorbers. The engine was compression tested and each cylinder was 160 psi +/- 2 or 3 pounds. However I wanted to pull the engine so I could clean it and the engine bay. Whilst it was out I replaced the oil pump, the water pump and the timing gears and chain. I also replaced the clutch assembly and the exhaust manifold gaskets as they are easy to do with the engine out but dreadfully painful with the engine in. A new exhaust system was fitted with straight through mufflers tucked up high. The tailpipes were used to keep the hot gasses away from the new chrome. The exhaust tone is not over loud but it sounds as crisp as I wanted it to be. The engine has an electronic ignition which is inside the distributor cap so it retains the original look but fires a big fat blue spark. Since restoration the car has always been garaged and never taken out in the rain, there is no rust that I am aware of. The interior is completely new from Dearborne Classics, New carpet and mats, roof liner and trim, door cards, window rubbers, seat covers, rear shelf and quarters. The windshield was removed and a new rubber seal fitted. There are new panels in the trunk and a new floor liner, under the hood new sound proofing has been installed. The bumpers were sent to Elizabethtown Kentucky to be re-chromed along with several other trim parts. Both the quarter light windows work as they should which is quite rare. They have a funky little gearbox which has a design fault so if they are forced they burst but I was able to remove and repair them. All the glass is in excellent condition. The door handles are new old stock. The car has been dressed with bumper over riders as well as the correct spotlight for that classic look. I put in a spare speedometer unit while I restored the original but never got around to swapping them back over. Both speedometers will convey with the car. The original speedometer shows 32467 miles and the title document agrees and shows correct original miles (not rolled over). On the negative side. The air was never recharged when the engine was reinstalled so I can make no representations as to whether it works. The radio does not work, but the clock does. The wheels are not correct for the Galaxie and are from a 1980's Lincoln Towncar. Originally I wanted 15 inch wheels in order to convert the car to front disks but that project fell through when I costed the job at $800. Personally I like the wheels so I kept them on, I also fitted slightly oversize tires which I think fill the wheel arches nicely especially in the rear with the skirts. The paint work is generally good but this is not a show car (it is IMO much better than a daily driver). It is the correct color of Viking Blue but is should be solid. When I looked at the lines I thought that it cried out to have a white top so it got it painted in the correct 63 shade, Corinthian White. The car comes with the original owners handbook which shows the dealership it was purchased from in Radford Virginia and the first owners in Rocky Mount, Virginia. I also found the original sales receipt which I encapsulated so we could stick in the window when we took it to local cruise ins. The clutch is smooth and probably has less than 200 miles on it. The gears shift sweetly and the overdrive works as it should. I have gps'd the speedometer and it is spot on, which is surprising considering it has 15 inch wheels. At 70 mph with the overdrive on, the engine is just ticking over and that 60's style of soft suspension makes it feel like a magic carpet ride. The old girl is a pleasure to drive and still turns heads. On Jun-16-15 at 15:20:40 PDT, seller added the following information: Here are the only ways I will accept payment, 1. Cash in person. We can meet at my bank pay in the money and you take the car, the documentation and a sales receipt 2. Cashier's check. This will take 5 business days (maybe 7) to clear. Once the funds are in my account I will release the car for shipping or collection. 3. Personal check. I don't know how long this will take to clear (it might be weeks) but I will advise you when the funds have transferred. Yes I know, I do have trust issues, my bad, however I am an honest person and I only want to be dealing with honest people.
