Vehicle Detail

Its a bus, truck, a sporty 5 speed, an elegant tank?, no actually its a 1987 Mercedes Benz 250td Wagon (European market model). VIN: WDB1241851F034546 268,000 miles If you're looking for a Mercedes diesel wagon that does it all this could be just the ticket. It has no computer or complicated circuitry. Its been a reliable car and runs and drives well. The brakes are excellent and alignment is good. Its always started without fail. The motor sounds wonderful, I’ll miss hearing it. If you're light footed it gets terrific mileage, around 27-32 on the highway and 24-27 in the city. I still drive it every day. I thought I was going to keep this car for a very long time but am selling because I need an AWD vehicle and didn't proceed with a planned veg conversion because of time constraints. W124 Chassis OM602 Diesel Motor Third row seat. It seats 7! 5 speed manual transmission Sunroof At some point the interior was replaced with an interior from a 90's 300 series with electric windows and leather seats with no rips. Note that it does not have air bags despite the SRS markings on the dash. Parts are easily available domestically as it's the same motor as in an ’89 190d and same chassis as a 300. The rims are also from a 90's model (with a full size spare and matching rim) Being a euro model the gauges are metric. Clear NY title Will include any miscellaneous parts I have and the Haynes Manual The Good: I was told the car had a new clutch when I bought it a couple years ago but have no way of confirming this. The clutch feels great and there's no bearing noise. When I got the car it had new appearing motor mounts, starter, battery, water pump, clutch cylinder and radiator. All still look new. Work done since in the last 2 years since buying the wagon: Replaced the head gasket, timing chain tensioner and guides. Dismantled, greased the mono-wiper and replaced the wiper motor. Replaced the blower motor. Replaced the Belt idler pulley and tensioner spring Replaced the Fan clutch Replaced the Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses Replaced the Headlight Bulbs Replaced the Serpentine belt Replaced the Rear Rotors, Calipers and pads Replaced the Front Pads Replaced the front drivers seat with a very comfortable which one which is good shape. The drivers seat has two memory positions. Interestingly, both headrests go up and down with a switch. The passenger seat is a rare orthopedic model which is comfortable despite not being connected to the vacuum system (the dials do nothing). Replaced the fuel filters. Replaced the rear silencer Replaced the real lower trailing arm links and rear springs Replaced the alternator. Replaced most of the undercarriage SLS lines, rebuilt the SLS pump. Replaced the SLS hoses in the engine compartment and the self leveling valve. The accumulators are new and the actuators have new polyurethane bushings. The oil was just changed. Idiosyncrasies: I put Miracle Paint (from mercedessource) to stabilize some minor rust spots. There are small holes behind the left front wheel and under the right rear seat. On top of the right rear door and around the right front jack hole. The front interior light doesn't work when you open the front doors (the switch works) but the very ample rear lighting works when you open the cargo door. The front spoiler (under the bumper) is taped in a cracked spot and wired up in another. If you want to get nit picky It could use a new spoiler and a new splash guard. The interior mirror adjustments on both sides (manual on drivers and electric on the passenger) do not work but the mirrors are adjustable by hand. The rear cargo door's lock cylinder doesn't match the other locks and I don't have a key for it. It opens with the front doors. The dash light dimmer control doesn't work. Gauge illumination is fixed on the dim side but at a comfortable level. The front interior lights work from the switch but not when you open the doors. The very bright rear cargo lights illuminate fine both from the dash switch and opening the cargo door. The front tires are at 40% with some cracking and the rear tires not matching and one at 50% and the looking fairly shabby. New tires would be a good move. The full sized spare works in a pinch but has a wobble due to what I believe is an issue with the tire not the rim. The rear suspension bushings could use a refresh. It needs a quart of oil approximately every 1200 miles. The rear antenna does not retract. Cracks in the rear lights The vacuum actuator for the fuel cap lock needs to be replaced. The stereo doesn't sound too great. The driver's side window doesn’t go down completely (it stays up maybe 3”). The seatbelt adjusters on the door pillars aren't adjustable any more. The latches on the rear storage hatches (above the spare tire and storage compartment) are missing some plastic doo dads and don't latch particularly well. The rear wiper fluid isn’t working. The included tire jack is a terrible design and pretty much useless. One wheel lug is missing The phone built into the armrest probably hasn't worked in 25 years but kids love using it.. The left front door trim piece is missing The lower plastic trim piece from the right rear door is included and need to be re-attached Carpet is decent has a 4" round hard spot on the back of the rear seat where some poly spilled. UPDATE- I drove the car for a weekend trip and the SLS is leaking. Dropping the starting bid to $2000 Receipts and documentation of all the work done since owning the car is available upon request.
