Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this nice ORIGINAL 15-window Deluxe Bus. There are lots of "fake" 15-window buses running around that have been "clipped" or "pieced-together"..... Not this one!! This is a FACTORY ORIGINAL 15-window. Year is 1971 and the bus was manufactured in the Volkswagen Brazil factory. Paint is decent and I would describe it as "driver quality". It is not going to win any "Best Paint" awards at the next VW show....... but it is nice enough for everybody to give the car a big "thumbs up". I have not driven this bus much since owning it, but the amount of attention it receives is UNBELIEVABLE!! Car comes with a handy roof rack that really adds a lot to the appearance of the bus. I would describe the interior as being very nice. The middle seat does have a stain in it, and I have not tried very hard to remove it (may or may not come out). Headliner is nice, seat upholstery is nice, and it even comes with a custom set of interior curtains!! The dashboard is not hacked, it has a cool original kilometer speedometer, and still sports the original steering wheel. Please note that every window on the sides are "pop-out" windows!! Suspension wise, the car is lowered all around. Stopping power has been increased substantially with the addition of front disk brakes. Transmission is stock and shifts fine. Engine is a stock 1500cc and runs very smoothly. I have a clean California title "in hand".... So paperwork is not an issue. The bus is located in Wilmington, California. I am in close proximity to Grumpy's Metal in Huntington Beach, California. Grumpy's Metal specializes in converting 15-window buses into 23-window sunroof buses. He charges approximately $7000 for the conversion. This includes all metal work, new glass, new seals, new sunroof assembly, new polished aluminum sunroof rails, and 100% of everything else you would need to convert the bus to a 23-window sunroof (except the fabric sunroof cover). Upon request, I would be glad to offer FREE DELIVERY of the bus to Grumpy's for the winner of this auction. Think about it..... you can have a 23-window Turkis Deluxe bus for about 30% of what an original German 23-window bus would cost you in similar condition!!! This bus has not been driven by me very much and has been sitting unused for an extended period of time. Therefore, I would strongly suggest that potential buyers plan on doing some freshening up of the brakes and servicing of the car mechanically before any consideration of declaring the car "daily-driver" worthy. In summary, this car offers an incredible amount of value for the price. I have seen German 15-window buses in this condition sell for north of $50K-$60K. Here is your chance to get an eye-catching bus for HALF of what a comparable German bus would cost!
