Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 2002 silver E-55. Please consider that this vehicle would require significant repairs or use for parts. It does drive and run fine, uses no oil and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the county after replacing the left front tire and maybe changing the oil. The interior condition is excellent except that I have worn the leather steering wheel wrap. It had slight evidence of a dog having once been in it, when I bought it in 2009 with 35,000 miles on it, but not smelling of any smoke and it has had neither since then. It has only had two mechanical repairs including the AC evaporator replacement and the alternator. The brake rotors are original to the car. The car has had a lot of body repairs and body trim parts are currently damaged. I hit a buck in West Virginia in 2010 causing $7000 in damage including re-skinning the front passenger door because the deer antlers stuck holes in the sheet metal. Then, while in the driveway, a tree branch fell on it in 2010 denting the top and hood and fender. Then in 2012, during the famous East Cost Derecho storm, a whole tree fell on it, denting the top, from front to back. Through all that, no glass has ever been replaced nor has it been straightened or even aligned. While those repairs were expertly made, the last accident was not repaired. I drove it into the median on I-66 in 2014 and tore up the plastic bumpers and plastic trim all around the car. Front bumper - see missing trim and light. Rear bumper - see crack. Running board plastic trim is loose and damaged. Also mechanical problems have been accumulating recently. The AC still delivers cold air but the driver side is broken, mixing heat in no matter what temperature it is set to. The drivers seat controls to move the seat back don't work, though memory buttons do work. The passenger seat is not functioning at all. Both headlights have been completely replaced (deer and tree repairs) and the lenses are clear and like new. The wheels have some corrosion. See photos. Whitesell Service in Waynesboro, VA did the body repairs and they are better than any fancy paint shop in all of greater Washington, D.C. but they aren't overly sensitive to Mercedes models. When they repaired the body for the derecho storm damage they accidentally turned it into an "E 550" See photos. I pointed this out and they said they could pry the extra "0" off but I never got by to see them since. Note!!! This car is in Bethesda, Maryland not Waynesboro, Virginia.
