Vehicle Detail
You are looking at a really nice good running VW Westfalia Camper with a clean Carfax and well over $3000 in new parts and upgrades! The van has been completely gone through by a VW Westfalia enthusiast, so you can rest assured the work was done right and it features many popular upgrades. Interior Canvas top is in excellent condition, bed cushion covers and curtains have been washed recently; this also comes with the additional privacy curtain set for the inside sliding door and front window plus a snap on bug screen for the rear hatch opening. New GoWesty year specific matching interior vinyl and headliner, along with new sound/insulation material in all walls and engine cover. Overall interior condition is relative to age, there are obviously cracks in dash and other plastic etc, fading, scratches, tears etc relative to a 30 plus year old VW, please refer to pics. Camping stove burners, refrigerator and water sink all work. The camping plumbing, gas and electric have been gone through; all supply and drain lines have been replaced, new water pump installed and all outside utility connection boxes (110v, water hook-up and on board water tank fill port) are new from GoWesty. The propane tank was cleaned and painted - shut off valve, vent and regulator are new upgraded for safety. Aux battery charge kit and small deep cycle battery were installed so fridge can continue to run when traveling and rest stops on the way to 110v shore power camp sites. Last the cabin light was updated to LED to be more power efficient. Note: speedometer works, but the odometer is broken (common issue), so *true* mileage of van is unknown; odometer stopped at and reads 81,515 - Carfax lists mileage as exempt due to age. We purchased and are including a used fully functional speedometer with odometer showing roughly 72K - we would be happy to install this for the winning bidder if they prefer. Exterior Fresh paint job matching original VW Assuan Brown color which is a bit rough with body work and sanding showing here and there, some areas were color sanded/buffed and still a bit dull, other imperfections, along with some minor runs in the clear coat and so forth; most of this does not show well in pictures, a little more visible in bright sunlight or the right angle - I added one pic I just took today as we had really bright sunlight (last picture) which shows some bodywork visible by the utility boxes, there is bodywork like that showing in various areas across the van; some of this is due to the dark paint color itself which shows everything. We used quality paint with a good primer base, 3 coats of color and 3 clear coats - so the van will be well protected from rust and the elements. Front chrome bumper has bends/dents, there is a closeup pic of this. Please refer to pictures for overall condition, though be aware not everything shows well like paint imperfections and such. Engine Features an air cooled fuel injected engine with good pep that has been gone through featuring a complete tune up with new plugs, wires, coil, temperature sensor, air filter, fuel filter, new manifold sleeves and valve cover gaskets. Distributor upgraded to electric module to climate the points and condenser (gives you a much hotter and more dependable spark). Completely new exhaust system which sounds great. It's been running good, seems to have plenty of power (for an air cooled VW van), I have seen a small engine leak (drip) after running it for a while, when it's shut off there is usually nothing, pretty common for a VW pancake engine, the oil level hasn't dropped at all since changing months ago. Recent new parts and work New tires, quality Primewell brand from Firestone New front & rear KBY shocks New CV joints and drive half axles New EMPI complete exhaust system including headers, muffler and gaskets New fuel tank complete with all new gaskets, seal kit and new sending unit New base/clear paint job in original VW Assuan brown (has imperfections, a bit rough) New sound/insulation material installed behind all interior panels New water pump, hoses and fittings on camper water supply and drainage systems New electric breaker s/w, plus all new outside utility hook up boxes New upgraded main cooling fan on refrigerator, plus upgrade internal cool air circulation fan New propane supply valve, bleeder, regulator and tank itself reconditioned New Aux battery kit upgrade with 2nd Aux battery to run fridge off 12v for travel and rest stops New upgraded Euro style window seals on windshield, rear hatch, side and wing windows New rear hatch struts (two each) New one piece speedometer cable New engine compartment air tight seal and sound deadening on lid New upgraded Pertronix electronic ignition (replaces vintage-style points & condenser) New spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor New temperature sensor New steering rod boots and upper ball joints New rear bumper and four new bumper corner covers (front and rear) New GoWesty exterior utility connection boxes (110v power, water hook-up and on board water tank fill port) New GoWesty matching vinyl installed on interior panels and new headliner kit New GoWesty upgrade 3rd brake light kit for safety New GoWesty front grille New Euro Campers locking gas cap Also replaced within last few years Brake Master Cylinder Brake Flex Line Hoses Front Brake Pads Rear Brake Shoes Replaced Fuel Lines The van runs good, starts right up, shifts good, we've driven it up to 55mph with no issues, etc., but its only driven locally maybe 20 miles since doing the work. If you intend to drive the VW home or such just be aware that its really untested on long drives and this is a 30 plus year old vehicle where anything can go wrong on a long trip, so we are selling the VW as-is, no warranty. We keep the license plates in Florida, so no license plates included; if you want to drive the VW home (again read above paragraph...) you can bring your own plates or our DMV can *usually* issue temp tags if you do paperwork with them and pay sales taxes/fees - if this interests you make sure to call them to confirm fees before bidding Ray Valdes Tax Collector 407-665-1000. If you fly in you would use the Orlando International Airport and we are willing to pick you up if needed. If you ship the van it must be picked up by shipper within 7 days of auctions end and I would highly recommend you deal directly with an actual shipping company that owns trucks, NOT a broker, just a tip from personal experience! I have used DAS Dependable Auto Shippers a few times and can recommend them. Reserve is $9K, full payment due within 7-days or auctions end. We have a clear Florida Title in hand ready to sign over. If you have any questions feel free to email us, thanks.
