Vehicle Detail
I bought this vehicle knowing it had been parked for 4 years. We aired up the tires, put in a battery and it started right up and I drove it home on lopsided wheels. Had the engine rebuilt by a local shop. Took the entire vehicle apart, sand blasted any rust from the underside and after re-priming used truck bed liner (which is bullet proof) on exposed surfaces. Put in the rebuilt engine and decided to add a new fan, new alternator (50 amp), new A/C compressor, new fuel injectors, new wiring, new coil/distributor and more. Added headers and a low resistance catalytic converter (expensive) and dual resonator exhaust. Had the transmission rebuilt. Put in new tie rod fittings, raised the body 3", put in all new body-to-frame bolts, new brakes and shocks, as well as new wheels and tires. Took out the entire interior carpet, replaced the stereo speakers with new. After a thorough cleaning used FatMat soundproofing on the floor, sides, doors, hatchback and did a very detailed job. Put in new carpet, new floor mats with (F-16s embroidered on floor mats) just to keep them clean! Put on new dash face cover - perfect fit. Put a dashboard carpet cover because there are some cracks on the sun-exposed dash top. Put in new visors and a new rear view mirror. Sanded body, did only very minor body work required for a couple small dings, primed and painted two-tone with metallic silver body and midnight blue roof. Not a professional paint job but looks good with a few less-than-perfect spots. New headlights, new bulbs from blinkers to interior warning lights. It should should be a good driver for a long time.. Not much that isn't new on this one. Runs great, with an occasional rough spot (probably a short somewhere) , I've put under 1,500 miles on it since the refurbishment. I hope to get some portion of my investment back, recent back problems keep me from further working on the project.. Click here for short video.
