THE BODY AND TRIM The exterior of this 1979 450Sl is in FAIR, far from concourse condition with decent paint finish and several corrosion spots on the body panels. Surprisingly though the underside of this car is solid with only a layer of surface rust. The chrome and trim pieces look to be original and in good condition. The soft top is fairly new and fresh with nice plastic window and the factory hardtop [also rusty on the edges] is included with the car as well. THE INTERIOR The interior of this Benz is in good to very good overall condition with working electric windows and newer cd stereo, lights, blinkers, speedo and odometer all in working order. The wood trim is in excellent condition as are the door panels, dash and headliner. The leather seat upholstery has some cracks,. the a/c does not blow cold. Overall this is a still cool classic cockpit. THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE This 1976 Mercedes starts perfectly with strong and smooth running engine, nice shifting transmission, supple suspension with solid handling. The car had new brakes and lines though the pedal is mushy and the hydraulic system needs to be bled. There is a slight exhaust manifold gasket flutter. This is still a solid cruising classic Benz that is a joy to drive with the top down on a warm sunny afternoon. THE DETAILS AND $$$$$ 1.
