Vehicle Detail

I have a for sale a rare find. It is 1 of 2171 built. 33,728 total Boattails were made but only 2171 were produced with the GS option. The car has some rust as I have tried to show in the photos. If you need anymore just message me and I will try get whatever info you need. The undercarriage is in really good shape as this car was stored in a shed since I believe 1999. The weather-stripping needs replaced and the car needs a total restoration, but would be a really good start as it is a pretty straight car. I have been cruising in it and it has a current title and registration. It has power window/locks/seat, tilt, A/C, cruise, am/fm cassette. It has the GS chrome air cleaner lid, Posi rear-end and handling package. The brakes and engine are strong but tires have weather checking and the shocks need replaced. I haven't ever noticed any smoke at start-up or while running. The mileage is actual and it is showing 90,742. The engine number is code TR-I42 41H908313. So everyone is aware, that is a 1971 Buick 455, so the engine was replaced sometime. The car handles nicely and has the feel of a boat like it should but the tires should be replaced to make it a really smooth ride. It has damage on the right rear beside the tail light and it appears that quarter panel and right fender have been replaced sometime during its life. When I bought the car out of storage, I cleaned the carb and old gas/oil and the car fired right up. The odometer was working when I drove it around my yard, but quit when I got it out on the road. I found gummed up old grease in the cruise control and freed it up and replaced the speedo cable from the transmission to the cruise control. The other cable seemed fine and the speedo works again (I didn't drive it until after I fixed it). The body has been re-painted and is coming off but the body is really pretty straight. The rust out is actually pretty minimal on the car. The lights all work as they should and with better tires and new shocks it would be able to be driven daily. I bought it planning on restoring it (as the saying always goes) but I don't see it happening anytime soon as I'm too busy and I refuse to let it set outside. It needs to go so I can free up room. I hope someone who really LOVES boattails buys this car and returns it to original condition and appreciates the rarity of this Rivie GS. I have looked at restored cars like this and they are amazing done. It has some extra parts and a good spare to go with it. The cardboard for the trunk is warped and would need re-formed if possible. I have the other GS emblem from the replaced fender and lower trim that goes with the car.On May-11-15 at 13:06:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I've lowered the reserve price. This car is going to sell. I'm going to let everyone tell me what this car is worth and find out if I paid too much. It's only worth what someone will pay for it and eBay reaches all over the country so no reserve bidding is the only way to find out a cars TRUE value. Thanks and happy bidding!!!On May-15-15 at 05:49:39 PDT, seller added the following information: There has been some confusion about some of the pictures on this car. The trunk is NOT rusted. The rust color is glue from the trunk liner that I took off to show the condition of the metal. The black is the tar paper stuff they used back then to sound deaden the car. This car only has rust that will need to be replaced that I can find, in the right front bottom of the fender (fender skirt) and the left rear quarter panel (in front of and behind the tire) otherwise it's just dings and the big dent on the rt rear of the car. The left rear quarter also has some waves in it that would have to be straightened. I wish I could have posted all 111 pictures I took, but ebay only let me post 24. If you have any questions or want anymore pictures I can send them to you or try to answer them. My cell # is 316-444-2262. This car should be worth over $25,000 when finished. I can't see spending much to restore it. I Don't have a reserve on it anymore so don't miss out on this opportunity. IT IS GOING TO SELL!!
