Vehicle Detail
2001 Jaguar XKR, 4 liter, 370 HP Supercharged V-8, for the money you will have a hard time finding a faster more luxurious convertible than this XKR! Why so cheap? I have a friend who is a dealer and I buy a few cars from time to time using his license, I love Jaguars and found this one a few years ago at an auction and it appeared perfect. The car had a good title, no accident history but it changed hands from dealer to dealer several times before I bought it. After getting the car, and being familiar with Jaguars I realized one of the chain tensioners was broken, I assume a few wholesalers bought the car and didn't want to go to the trouble of repairing the tensioners or didn't know what the problem was and just assumed it was something major and expensive and simply just sent it back to the next auction. If you are familiar with the Jaguar V-8's you know the timing chain tensioners are a problem and it is recommended to replace them with the updated steel versions which is exactly what has been done with this one! At the same time I also installed a new Supercharger pulley bushing/spacer which is also a wear item and can make the Supercharger a bit noisey, again, another thing that won't have to be addressed anytime soon. While at the shop the car was broken in to, the drivers glass was broken out and the drivers door was scratched. The shop made good on repairing the glass and repainting the door. Upon getting the car back I realized the paint on the door is not an exact match and the door glass needs a bit of adjustment, it doesn't line up quite right with the rear quarter glass. The shop took it back to repair these things but never got around to it, after several months I just took it from them, at this point I was a bit fed up with the whole thing and it just sat in my garage for the last couple years. Earlier this Spring I decided I would keep it and just enjoy it as is, the paint really matches much closer than the picture appears, in fact I was shocked when I saw the photo. There are a couple other little dings as with any 14 year old car but overall the paint is nearly perfect. The interior is in great shape, no stains or tears, leather is still very soft as it should be, wood dash is perfect. The top is also excellent and goes up and down as it should. Tires are about 80% tread, lots of life left. The car is a blast to drive, very fast, but at the same time very comfortable and quiet, even for a convertible. It has the factory navigation screen, heated seats, backup sensors, premium Alpine stereo, pretty much every option and did I mention 370 Horsepower!!! Long story short a few weeks ago I finally found a car I have been searching for, an original Audi Quattro coupe, these don't come along very often (only 500 imported) and I realize if i don't jump on this one now I may never find one, especially at the current prices so the Jaguar has to go! Honestly I hate to see it go after driving it the last couple weeks, it is a great car and I doubt seriously anything would match it, especially for the price! The starting price is very low for what you are getting, I know i possibly made the car sound worse than it is but I don't want any suprises, what you are looking at is an honest 40,000 mile car that has had all of it's preventive maintenance done for you, the expensive work is done, it drives and performs perfectly, the interior is almost as new. All this car really needs is a small adjustment on the door glass and the top half of the drivers door painted if it bothers you, again it isn't nearly as noticeable as the looks in the pictures. I am guessing anything in this price range will need much more work than this one, even some of the more expensive ones most likely have not had the timing chain tensioners replaced and this is a must do and not cheap either so take that into account when looking, repairing the door on this is cheaper than new timing chain tensioners and other than the door I would put this up against most any other XKR on the market! Please no low ball offers, no bashing the car or the problems. I am a car fanatic and know what I have, it is well worth more than the starting bid and there is NO RESERVE If I don't get any bids at this price I will get the door fixed and relist, it isn't that big of a deal. Feel free to ask any other questions! On May-04-15 at 06:57:58 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISION! I had a question about this being a "Silverstone" edition. When listing the vehicle on ebay I entered the VIN and it generated the title for me and I really thought nothing of it There are no markings on the vehicle indicating that it is a Silverston edition so I really don't know, I assume it is not since it does not have the badging but I can't explain why the VIN indicated it was? If you have bid on this car under the impression it is a Silverston and would like to retract your bid I understand. Sorry if there was any confusion
