Only 6500 produced and exclusively sold in North America. This W116 SD is the rarest color combination of all. Beautifully finished in English Red wrapped around a Palomino interior. It is obvious that somebody had an imagination in 1979. Also, no small amount of currency changed hands when this car was purchased. Brand new, this Diesel S-Class cost $27,000 in 1979 which was the same as two Cadillacs or Lincolns in the US. The Mercedes was worth every penny. This was a car someone bought for the long run. This particular example has been well cared for over the years and runs out excellent. The interior is like new with no staining, discoloration or damage. The wood is perfect, the carpets are perfect, the front seats have been removed disassembled and re-padded to be comfortable and supportive. The paint is 100% original and shines like a mirror. The anodized trim has no oxidation and shines like chrome. A California car it's whole life with the undercarriage pictures to prove it. The dash and door cards are flawless as well as the headliner. There is absolutely, positively, NO rust to be found anywhere on or under the car. The A/C blows ice cold, the radio has been replaced with a bluetooth unit along with new speakers front and rear; though no permanent modifications have been made to the car. Recent service includes a new battery, coolant change, oil change, transmission fluid change, differential fluid change, brake pads and rotors as well as a valve adjustment.
