Vehicle Detail
As you will note this is a very highly optioned black on black PHS documented car with the factory build sheet and a copy of the original window sticker. In addition it has a clear PA title showing 27,280 miles. It comes with the original #’s matching engine, carburetor transmission and its 4 wheel disc rear end. The car was purchased about a decade ago as a total restoration project. There was some accident damage to the left side sub frame leg and some slight damage to the cowl. The t tops had been leaking and the floor pans needed to be replaced. The trunk had water damage and needed a new trunk pan. The right rear fender had rust around the glass and also needed to be replaced. The sub frame has since been replaced, the cowl damage repaired and a new trunk pan installed along with a rust free factory right rear fender. It still needs new floor pans installed which I have and are included in the sale. The extensive body work carried out to date was performed by a reputable shop and the repairs are of high quality and were expensive. It should be noted that the rust on the car is only surface rust and will clean up easily. This is from the car sitting outside under a cover. Underneath the rocker panels are in great condition along with the rest of the supporting members. Without question all of the difficult work has been done with regard to the body and anyone who has experience and knowledge of these cars will see it’s potential. The car has great bones. Ideally a donor car will be needed as a source for additional parts and to assist with the details of re-assembly. The engine will need a total rebuild and there is some rust damage to the block on the rear two cylinders due to water getting in. The engine was drained of antifreeze when purchased so will be fine after it has been rebuilt. The transmission has already been rebuilt. The condition of the rear end is unknown. The car did run and drive when it was originally purchased. There is little point in me going into more detail as to how many were originally produced but there are less than 500 examples left known to exist and very few black on black cars as most were manufactured with the camel interior as per the original sales brochure. The owner of the car is a friend of mine and is now living in England. He has halted the project as he no longer views the restoration as practical due to the distance involved and has come to the conclusion that trying to bring the car over to England is not really a viable option and so this is why the car is for sale. What is for sale? ……………………. What you see is what you will get. The body shell as pictured. Note cowl tag. The engine including the #’s matching block, heads, intake manifold, carburetor, air cleaner assembly and hood scoop. #’s matching Borg Warner Super T10 and bell housing. 4 wheel disc rear end. Four correct 8 inch gold snowflake wheels. Driver, passenger and rear seat. Wiring harnesses. New full length floor pans. Left and right sides. Finally I would like to mention. Please don’t email me with minor detail questions. The pictures really do tell the story and this is without doubt a genuine car as the documents demonstrate. Mechanical parts for the car are readily available and in recent years the availability of aftermarket non mechanical parts has become excellent. Thank You. On Feb-13-15 at 07:28:18 PST, seller added the following information: I have received quite a few e mails asking me if I have any other parts for the car and the answer is yes. I have the original hood and hinges, the front fenders in blue one of which has a small but repairable hole at the bottom of the fender. A radiator support including the condenser. The original dash which is cracked with the gauges. The factory original AM/FM CB Radio with the wiring which works and little box that goes behind the dash along with the talker. No antenna. A new fuel tank and sender. Rebuilt WS6 steering box. Spare tire bottle. Rebuilt shifter and the original but re-chromed Hurst shifter rod with no knob. Transmission shifter levers. A PST front end kit which was $600.00. A full bolt kit from Classic Industries which was $200.00. A new set of brake lines from Inline Tube which was $330.00 plus a slew of other misc stuff. These items would all be at extra charge and ARE NOT included in the current auction. Shipping would be a problem for several items of course and I can't put any of the sheet metal on the car. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL HAVE FIRST REFUSAL ON WHAT I HAVE AVAILABLE IN STORAGE.
