NO RESERVE! 1975 Volkswagen Rabbit Golf Mk1 Swallowtail Original Low Mileage Survivor Up for auction is an early base model 1975 Volkswagen Rabbit with 40,800 original miles. Build date: 12/74 I purchased the car about 2 years ago as a "barn find" and I've replaced the basic maintenance bits such as... -Timing belt & tensioner -Plugs, NOS wires, dist cap & ignition rotor -NOS Master cylinder, NOS front & rear wheel cylinders & front brake shoes -Rebuilt Carburetor -Correct 145R13 Tires -Cleaned fuel tank -NOS fuel sending unit -All filters, fluids, etc. The car now runs and drives down the road very well. The car is all original, minus the original bumpers & wheels which have been refurbished. This early Rabbit has NO options. No radio, no A/C, no cigarette lighter, no carpet (rubber floor mats only), front drum brakes, no door sill plates, no door (vent) window defroster, blank door panels, and no rear window defroster (clear glass). This is the most basic model I've ever come across. This car is an excellent example of a Volkswagen oddity. It has beautiful, original VW NOS houndstooth seat fabric on the front seats. Absolutely ZERO rot in or around the strut towers. The original, rare Delftblau paint shows very well but there is patina as expected for a 40 year old vehicle. From what I've read and experienced that the dealers back when put foam in the bracing under the hood to keep vibration noise down. Unfortunately it rotted the hood. I've gotten quotes to repair it, but decided against it because of the originality of the car. The rear seat obviously needs to be recovered. I've been holding out for a NOS example to become available, as anything else wasn't acceptable. The new owner can decide on what to do there. International bidders welcome!!! Please contact me if you have any questions and happy bidding! Pictures! Early skinny steering wheel and delete plates No door sill plates (never had any) Early Rear Hatch Stay Early Metal Badges No rear defroster Clear Glass Found this harmonica in the car when I got it. So it stays OEM Antenna Delete Early TDC Sensor. These are usually long gone. Front drum brakes
