1970 Dodge Challenger Project CarClear Title!!LOWER RESERVE THAN PREVIOUS LISTING!! Up for auction is a 1970 Dodge Challenger that I am listing for a friend. The car is located in Crystal Springs, Mississippi which is just south of Jackson, MS. The car started life with a 225ci Slant 6 cylinder under the hood and a 3 speed manual transmission on the floor. Years ago, someone swapped out the drivetrain in favor of a 318ci V8 with an automatic transmission. We do not have the original numbers matching drivetrain. This car was born in the very desirable high impact color, EV2 Hemi Orange and to make it even more unusual, it came with tan interior. This is also a very early built Challenger showing a production date of Aug 23, 1969. The car is very complete and very solid compared to most e-bodies. It has typical rust issues in the common spots (which can be seen in the photos). The car will need interior floor pans, trunk pan, and some work on the a-pillars (very common spot to rust). From what we can tell, all of the frame rails look to be very solid as well as the exterior body panels (except the hood). The hood is full of filler across the front, so you would want to replace it. If the high bidder is interested in another flat hood, the owner of this car has a nice flat hood that was removed from his other Challenger that will be available for an additional cost. The trunk gutters look very nice which is uncommon. The lower quarters will need very little attention and the lower fenders will need some work, as well as the area right below the battery tray. As with any project car, the interior will need replacing as well as all body panels and mechanical parts will need work. The wheels and tires DO NOT go with the car and were only bolted on to move the car around. The original wheels are included with the car. You will need to bring a set of rollers with you when you pick up the car. This would be a great project car to start with and is in much better shape than most projects. It was last registered in 1990 and has been off the road ever since. We have not tried to crank the engine do not know the condition of it. Original plans were to ditch it and go back with a Slant 6. My friend rescued the car but decided to pass it along to someone looking for a project. He owns a restoration shop and does great work, so if you are interested... he can do as little or as much on this car.
