Selling my 1982 K5 Blazer Silverado. This truck was sold new in Texas, and spent its later years on the West Coast so it has never seen road salt. Previous and believed to be original owner was a retired Air Force pilot, so this truck was never abused, modified, or off-roaded. We even left his military/aviation bumper stickers on the truck for nostalgia sake. This is a very well-optioned truck with AC, PW, PDL, tilt, cruise, factory gauges, factory alloy wheels, factory front tow hooks, and towing package. It also has some neat factory options not seen very often on these Blazers. These include the swing-away spare tire carrier, roof rack, and sliding rear side glass in the canopy. The latch on the driver's side sliding glass in the canopy is broken so that window cannot be locked. This truck also came with a rear roof spoiler, but it was removed at some point. I do have a factory rear spoiler from a 1982 Suburban that is included in the auction. The mounting bracket holes do not line up exactly with those on the Blazer top, but the spoiler looks to be the correct type. Mechanically, the truck is in very good condition. The original 5.0 (305ci) engine was replaced at some point with a GM Goodwrench crate 350 which runs excellent. It does not smoke or knock. Transmission is a 3-speed automatic and it shifts fine. Brakes and steering/suspension appear to be in good working condition. The truck drives and handles fine at freeway speeds. The power steering box does appear to be leaking. As far as electricals go, the power windows and door locks, rear tailgate glass, wipers, and lights are in working condition. The factory AM-FM casette stereo does work, although one of the front speakers seems to have a loose connection. Speedo and gas gauge work, and the oil pressure and voltmeter are also working. The clock and temp gauge do not appear to be working. Tires still have a decent amount of tread on them. The wheels are the hard-to-find factory alloy 4x4 wheels. Some of the pictures show the truck with aftermarket chrome wheels. The truck now has the original alloy wheels reinstalled. The interior in the truck appears to be all original, with the exception of the dash pad which has a cap on it. The front and rear seats have couple small punctures but no seam splits or tears. The beige seat upholstery does show some soiling, but nothing excessive. The carpet is torn in a few places and should be replaced. The rear side panels both have some wear, mostly on the passenger side and in the rear. The cargo are carpeting is worn out at the rear edge. The body on the truck is very straight with no dents. The original passenger door and hood did have some dents and were replaced with straight panels from another Blazer. That truck had original paint, but it was a slightly darker shade of brown, and the two-tone lines were slightly different, so you can see in the pics that the panels are not an exact match paintwise. The replacement hood does have areas where the paint has faded down to the primer. The tailgate has the typical stress cracks in the metal at the ends on the top edge. The lower panels on the outer body all appear to be solid with no major rusted out areas. I did notice a small rust hole on the inside edge of one rocker panel. On the driver's floor pan there is also some evidence of rust, and in some isolated spots in the upper door jambs. These areas are highlighted in the youtube video (see link below). The bottoms of the door jambs appear to be solid. Pics of these areas, as well as the bottoms of the doors and closeups of the lower panels are available upon request. Keep in mind that this truck does have some rust, but it is not road salt rust like you see in the Midwest or East Coast. The underneath is very clean and has no scale on the frame or undercarriage. As far as ownership history of the truck is concerned, the history report estimates that there have been two owners. It is my belief that the retired pilot was the original owner and the truck therefore had one rather than two prior owners. The history report shows three events involving a title being issued - one in Texas and two in Oregon. Based on his obituary that I obtained, the pilot lived and served in Texas prior to moving to Oregon. There was a title issued in Texas on 3/1/1982, which is when the truck was sold new. There was a second title issued in Oregon on 10/11/1995, which is when I believe the pilot moved to Oregon. A final title was issued in Oregon on 11/18/2005, at which point I believe a second individual was added as an owner. The title you will receive is that 2005 title, still in the retired pilot's name. Based on the history report, the 70,000 odometer reading is most likely 170,000 miles. I'll also emphasize that the history is clean with no accidents or other red flags. All in all, this Blazer is in pretty good condition for a 33-year-old truck, and its getting harder and harder to find one that hasn't already been modified or heavily abused. This one can be driven as-is, or modified/restored to your liking. Short-term indoor storage available, and I will cooperate with your transporter in getting the truck shipped.
