Up for sale is my prized possession. It is a 1981 Toyota BJ42 Land Cruiser with the highly sought after 3B Diesel engine. Yes this is the million mile motor that everyone wants. This land cruiser was originally sold in New Zealand and was later transported LEGALLY to the US, Alabama to be specific. There it resided for a number of years. Any and all modifications were done prior to my purchase. This includes the one of a kind galvanized body armor surrounding the cruiser. The elderly couple I purchased it from has owned it since 2008. They decided that they wanted something with more seating capacity (new grandkids) so they put it up for sale and that is how I acquired this beauty. My goal was a vehicle that I could drive monday through friday back and forth to work and then I could take to the Offroad Park on the weekends. I looked and looked and when I finally found this one, I jumped on it. Problem is that this one is WAY NICER than what I had anticipated. After driving the rig around for a while I have decided that if I took it off road and dented a fender or scratched it up, I would cry. Don't get me wrong its not perfect by any means but you will be very hard pressed to find one of these in nicer shape. The frame is as solid as they come. The paint on the vehicle shines up nicely from just a car wash. The engine fires up and runs smooth with no smoke. The clutch and brakes engage properly with firm pedals. It doesn't drift, cruises straight down the highway and is nothing but a pure joy to drive. There is a few rust spots in the body that need to be attended to sooner than later but is minimal and should be an easy fix. I did not do any patches or repairs to this for I wanted the new owner to see exactly what they are getting. A true gem! The tan split bench seat is very comfy for a 30 year old truck and all the lights and gauges work as expected with the exception of the odometer. It quit in 2012. Four wheel drive shifts in and out smoothly. Also note the very rare factory DASH. This was only offered in 1983 models in the US. This dash is very rare compared to all the FJ40's I have seen around on the internet. Also note a few other significant variances is this one has LSD (limited slip differential) and a full floating rear axle. Both of which are very sought after items on a cruiser. New shoes were installed on this cruiser not long ago so the Hankook tires might look aggressive but ride rather smooth. This is not a jacked up off road truck that has been abused but rather a reliable dependable vehicle that will get you somewhere between 28-30 mpg and only increase in value. The right hand drive is something that I have fallen in love with. Believe it or not it comes very natural and so so easy to get use to. The cool factor with my kids is way up there and even my wife doesn't mind taking it for a spin every once in a while. I am selling this vehicle as is where is because it is 30+ years old. I do have a clear title in hand. With all this being said let me reiterate, I love this truck! If it wasn't such a nice vehicle to off road, and I didn't need the money, I would not be selling this one of a kind rig. I would not be scared to jump in this cruiser and drive to California and back! I hope the new owner can preserve the history while making new memories with this one of a kind legendary Land Cruiser!
