Up for auction is a 1955 Oldsmobile Delta 88 with the V8 rocket engine and hydramatic transmission. This was the Mayor's car in my home town and was in his family for 35+ years. The car was rarely driven and stayed in a garage the whole time. The car did make it out for Easter Sunday and the occasional car show. The paint isn't perfect but looks very good considering it was painted around 40 yrs ago. There are some nics and scratches visible in the paint. The interior has a few stains on the seat but should clean up well. The cardboard type material on in the kick plates and behind rear seat at glass could use some replaceing. The car had been sitting for a while when I got it. It now has a new edelbrock carburetor, electric fuel pump, and brand new Coker white walls. The car isn't perfect but is in very good shape for it to not to be a fresh restoration. The brakes work ok, but I wouldn't follow to close behind anyone. The transmission shifts ok but I always shift it manually so I don't over work it. The car gets tons of looks and comments when I'm driving around. It has a good highway cruising gear on it. It will shift on its own but It seems to rev up or delay when shifting if you get own it hard. I don't know anything about these transmissions but another gentleman informed me there was an adjustment bolt to tighten the bandto help the car shift smoother. The transmission does not slip when it's in gear. It's only felt during auto shifting.
