Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1972 Chevrolet Impala 2 door Convertible. The Impala is being sold to settle our Parents Estate. Dad backed this car into his Garage in 1979 where it has remained untouched for the last 35 years. I recently put gas and a battery in it and it started right up. I also drove it around the yard. It is a 1972 Chevrolet Impala, 2-door Convertible, 8 cylinder (350ci according to the VIN number) with a 2-barrel carburetor, Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM Radio. The Car has 42,486 miles on it. The VIN is 1M67H2Y160740 This car is Complete and in the same Original Condition as it was when Dad backed it into the garage back in 1979. My description below is a little redundant (I apologize) but I want to be as Descriptive and Detailed and Honest as possible. There are two different dates shown in the pictures. The 2009 date is wrong. All of the pictures posted were taken in November 2014 (the date in my camera was wrong). The Body: The Body is Complete and in Good Condition. The Body has no rust other than the floor pan underneath does have some light surface rust (no holes) from being parked on a cement floor for 35 years. The Interior: The Interior is Complete and in Good Condition. It could use a cleaning. The Glass: The Glass is Complete and in Good Condition. The Top: The Top is Complete and in Good Condition. It works as it is supposed to. It goes up and down just fine. There is some very minor fraying along the edge of the top just above the Driver’s and Passenger’s windows. The Frame: the frame is Solid and in Good Condition and has no rust other than some light surface rust like the floor pan. The Chrome: The Chrome is complete and in Good Condition. If you see some discoloration in the pictures it is wax residue left over from 1979. Dad waxed the car before putting it in the garage and left the wax on it thinking it would protect the paint and chrome (I washed the car in November and that removed most of the wax). Running Gear: The Running Gear is Complete and in Good Condition. The Car starts, runs, and drives. Suspension: The Suspension is in Good Condition. This car received a State of Maine Safety Inspection Sticker in 1979 and has been garaged since then. The 1979-80 State of Maine Inspection Sticker is still on the windshield. Tires: The four tires that were on the car were flat and no good. We found four new G-78-15 tires that Dad had over the garage so we put them on the car so the car could be driven and moved around. The Paint: I would call the Paint in Good Condition. I believe most of the paint is Original. There are a couple places where I noticed some over-spray so Dad must have had a few areas touched-up or it was there when he bought it. What areas will need work: After putting gas in the car we realized the gas tank had a very slow leak. For safety reasons I removed the tank from the car. It will need a new gas tank and straps (sending unit is fine). I saved the old tank if you want it for a sample. I subsequently hooked-up a remote fuel tank in the trunk so the car could still be started and driven around the yard. The rear (hydraulic) brake line has a hole in it. It will need to be replaced. It still has front brakes so it can still be moved around. The right side of the hood has an area where the paint has peeled off (see pictures). The Emergency Brake Pedal seems stuck. I believe the Rear Brake Cables are stuck and will probably need to be replaced. There are two rust holes in the Trunk Floor about the diameter of a pencil. The location is above the fuel tank and under where the spare tire bolts in. (see picture - the tire iron is pointing to the two holes). As to Title: The State of Maine never issued a Title for this car and currently will not issue a title for any motor vehicle manufactured prior to 1995. I will provide the buyer with (1) a "Notarized Bill of Sale" that states that the "Seller Warranties that (a) he is the sole lawful owner of this vehicle, and [b] this vehicle is free of any liens and/or encumbrances (2) a vehicle specific "Certificate of Verification" from the State of Maine stating they will not issue a Title for a vehicle manufactured prior to 1995, and (3) a "Current State of Maine Registration". With these three documents most States will issue you a title (if you live in a title State). Please check with the Bureau of Motor Vehicle in your State to make sure these documents will satisfy their requirement. If your State requires additional documents... contact me before bidding on the car. If you have any questions, contact me and I'll help in any way I can. Payment: A $500 deposit via PayPal will be required within 48 hours of willing the bid. The remaining balance will be required within 7 days of the sale. If these conditions are not met the sale will be rescinded and the car will be re-listed. As to storage and pick up: Buyer may pick the car up at its location in Augusta, Maine. We are willing to continue to store this car inside for up to 30 days while pick up arrangements are made. If you need more time, we will certainly work with you. If you pick it up, or send an agent, we will be available to help in any way that we can to assist in helping load the Impala. As to delivery: We have a trailer and will consider delivering it within the Northeast area for $1.25 a loaded mile. If you have any questions, contact me and I'll do my best to answer them, or if you prefer, we can exchange cell phone numbers and talk. You are welcome and encouraged to come to Augusta Maine and see and hear the Impala run for yourself. Thank You for your interest, and Good Luck!
