Vehicle Detail

71 camp mobile - yes- this is the same van listed a week or so ago -I thought I had it sold but the stars didn't align. I had second thoughts after a few offers and decided to Re- list the van. It's restored and has been my baby for almost 7 years with many extras. Selling it only because "life" has forced my hand. I have been an VW van enthusiast since high school ( 25 years ago) and was planning on keeping this one for myself but that's what I get for making plans. Everything is new- everything. "New" meaning 2000 miles on it. It runs great, drives great and only needs someone to enjoy the ride. It wasn't a pan off restoration but almost. It is a 43 year old vehicle with the charm of just that. This is not a rust bucket and if it had any I cut it out and welded in new metal. It has the original door panels, floor mat, camper interior cabinetry, manuals, jack, tool kit, screen, and child's cot. It has custom made curtains, screens that cover the driver and passenger windows when rolled down - used to keep bugs out and seen in one of the photos, drivers seat slides back an extra 4-5 inches due to a modification to the drives seat panel and storage cabinet,( anyone that is remotely taller and has driven a VW Van will appreciate this customization- it totally changes the ride and is MUCH more comfortable for any driver- tall or not), has a custom brake fluid reservoir, the cabinet on the passenger side has been lowered to make use of the right rear window- see picture (VW modified the interior of these campers to accommodate left hand steering columns used in America and later put the closet on the drivers side to correct the blind spot oversight/American need), has a Cherry hardwood floor, 3 year old upholstery that looks new) the rear bed cushion is the original westy cushion color ( golden rod type color- can be died if desired as the cover has a zipper for removal From the foam, I didn't acquire the original bed foam until a few months ago and it missed the upholstery job, ( the cover is in perfect condition) see pictures, all of the locks work, the key buzzer works, has an interior dome light, wooden headliner, horn button, new tie rod linkage and tie rod ends, steering damper and front end alignment, new tranny service with gear oil change, See pictures of work and feel free to ask any questions. I can promise anyone they could make a cross country trip in this van with confidence. It comes with a camp cooking table, camping propane stove, and a box of extra stuff from the rebuild. It has the trailer hitch( not installed but in the box) Work includes:New paint( still under warranty) New tires (2000 miles on them with some minor wear on the front tires before the alignment- I will probably replace these)New brakesNew brake linesNew calipers New interior upholstery New window rubber everywhere- all windows, doors, engine, .....New custom canvasNew rear awning - see picturesNew side awning- see picturesNew motor mountsNew motor 1600 with engle 100 cam-many upgrades, heads, rods, oil pump, balanced...New clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing New header and mufflerNew accelerator cableNew clutch cable New pop top sealNew screensNew tail light lensesNew side markersAMFM CDCBHas the camping stool Has a 12 volt heat exchanger A/C that is one of a kind- really cools well - worksAnd more... The interior is customized for the daily driver-the driver seat reclines an extra 4-5 inches and the closet has been dropped down so the right rear window is functional. It doesn't have the scissor cot, and doesn't have the ice box cooler. I have one that is a little beat up and will include if desired but it needs some work. I have considered the cost of the motor in this price ( I have about 4500 In the motor alone) engine has approximately 2096 miles on it and runs excellent. I used a Engle 100 cam so the van pulls well and has plenty of low end torque -and at about 60 mph has a power curve to about 70 -75 that really settles well on the interstate - purrs like a kitten ! I sold a 67 Ghia to build this van- the same day I sold the Ghia I ordered over 4000 dollars in replacement parts for the van- rubbers, calipers, brakes, hoses, etc. Most of the receipts -90 %- are included in the sale A local VW shop/mechanic knows the van and he once held the VW dragster world speed record - so he is reputable -and could possible provide feed back to the buyer. I'm gonna hate to see it go. Clean title in hand- I will help coordinate the pick up of the van and possible delivery 11000 - make me an offer or call if you want to talk No warranty expressed or implied - Call me 850-292-6705 Danforthdan10@gmail.com
