Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my lovely little shop truck - its a 1 owner, 39,000 original miles 1963 Chevy Pickup. This truck is so fun to drive around, I am really going to miss it, but I bought another 63 just like it, so I dont need two of them. This truck was bought new at Drinkard Chevrolet in Cullman AL by a local Baileyton AL area man in late 1962 and he had several fun factory options installed by the dealership. The truck was already beautiful Balboa Blue and White and sported the fancy chrome bumpers, Panoramic Cab (big rear window) and Custom Cab equipment package (Chrome grille, chrome windshield trim and Upper Cab Custom mouldings, full foam deluxe seat, chrome rimmed interior knobs, dual armrests and dual visors), and had a Radio but he had them add a super cool factory Spot Light, front bumper mounted fog lights (broken and removed now) Chrome bumper guards, and backup lights too (backup lights were made standard in 1966, but were available as an option before 1966). Everything on this truck works - heater, all guages, spotlight, etc - even the radio still works. Unfortunately, in the mid-80's the original owner decided to install carpet at some point in the trucks' life, and instead of just laying it in there, he glued it all down - right over the factory floor mat. So there is glue residue everywhere where I removed the carpeting. He also installed a headliner which I removed revealing beautiful shiny paint, but there is still some glue you will need to scratch off (most comes off with your fingernail). This will make a fantastic shop truck, rat rod or just fun truck for someone to drive and enjoy. Call me at 256-486-1988 with questions. Note: I added the correct 1963 optional dash clock you see in the photos after I bought it, and it works great and keeps good time - I also sandblasted a set of correct 15" rims and had them painted Balboa Blue and mounted new white wall tires - you can deduct 200 dollars off my price if you do not want the dash clock and if you want the original blue and surface rust 15" steel rims instead of this nicely restored set, we can deduct 200 more dollars there. Lastly, you can deduct 400 dollars more for good used tires instead of these new ones. If you take all my offers in an effort to get a great fun truck at the absolutely lowest price, you will save 800 bucks off my price - this is being offered this way to suit a lot of different possible purposes for a truck like this; if someone was going to do a rat rod out of it, they would have no use for the correct restored wheels, because they might want to repaint the originals to say Red color for example - likewise, a man intending to use it as a shop truck might not care about an expensive dash clock and only want it to drive around and would rather save that money. Details below DRIVETRAIN: The truck still has its low mileage, non smoking and great running #'s matching 230 inline 6 cyl engine and 3 speed manual transmission. Unlike most older 3 speed manual trucks, you can shift this one with two fingers - the low original mileage of this truck means the shift tube spring is still tight and when you go upwards to get to 2nd, the spring throws outward to engage the 2nd and 3rd gear pawl properly - instead of hanging. Its to date the only properly and actually pleasantly shifting 2 speed manual I have ever owned. The engine is quiet and doesn't leak. Brakes re-worked and work well with all new rubber lines and hub parts. Replaced some steel lines as needed too. Engine has new ignition related parts and tune up. BODY: The body is 100% original on this truck with no replaced panels and no former bodywork - no dents either. All surface rust and rust through was earned from a long life sitting in wet humid Alabama weather. It has the rare and sought after Wide back glass and if you can believe it, it actually has rust free floors - no rust through anywhere I saw! But, it did sit in the weather forever, and the drip rail has some tiny cracks that allowed water to enter and rust out the peak over the windshield on the outside corners - same for down inside the drivers dogleg too - see close up of rust showing behind the spotlight. Most people would rather fix these problems any day than have to fix what's usually wrong with early 60's truck bodies, but you be that judge. I would fix the rusted out peak with fiberglass if it was me, and that could be done pretty easily I think. The rain really did a number on the hood and both doors - I have replacements for the new owner, and the replacement hood is solid and straight, and the doors are nice and straight on the outsides, but need some door bottom repair to be perfect. The bed has a steel floor in it with the original wood under that. Driver front fender is fairly nice and repairable, pass side has more serious rust in the lower section but could be saved. Outer rockers need replacement, but inners are good. All four cab supports are good, as is the whole cab floor. TITLE & SHIPPING: Alabama does not have titles on vehicles older than 1974 - instead we have a registration slip which acts as a title, and you take that instead to your state's DMV and they all have a simple process to convert a registration from a non-title state like Alabama to a title like they require. Truck is located in Arab AL 35016 and can be driven to just about anywhere, but I have never driven it farther than about 90 miles one way, so there is some level of uncertainty involved in anyone driving it from here to an out-of-state destination simply because you never know what could happen. The tires are new, the brakes are new, the engine only has 39K miles, etc but I would not risk it - I would ship it to wherever you are using a uship. com carrier or someone.
