Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1972 Chevrolet Impala 2 door Convertible. This is being sold to settle our Parents Estate. Dad backed this car into his Garage in 1979 where it has remained untouched for the last 35 years. I recently put gas and a battery in it and it started right up. It is a 1972 Chevrolet Impala, 2-door Convertible, 8 cylinder (350ci according to the VIN number) with a 2-barrel carburetor, Automatic Transmission, Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM Radio. The Car has 42,486 miles on it. The VIN is 1M67H2Y160740 This car is Complete and in Original Condition from 1979 down to the owner’s manual. My description below is a little redundant and I apologize. I want to be as Descriptive and Detailed and Honest as possible. There are two different dates shown in the pictures. The 2009 date is wrong. All of the pictures posted were taken this month (November 2014). The Body: The Body is Complete and in Good Condition. The Body has no rust other than the floor pan underneath does have some light surface rust (no holes) from being parked on a cement floor for 35 years. The Interior: The Interior is Complete and in Good Condition. It could use a good cleaning. The Glass: The Glass is Complete and in Good Condition. The Top: The Top is Complete and in Good Condition. It works as it is supposed to. It goes up and down just fine. There is some very minor fraying along the edge of the top just above the Driver’s and Passenger’s windows. The Frame: the frame is Solid and in Good Condition and has no rust other than some light surface rust like the floor pan. The Chrome: The Chrome is complete and in Good Condition. If you see some discoloration in the pictures it is wax residue left over from 1980. Running Gear: The Running Gear is Complete and in Good Condition. The Car starts, runs, and drives. Suspension: The Suspension is in Good Condition. This car received a State of Maine Safety Inspection Sticker in 1979 and has been garaged since then. The Paint: I would call the Paint in Good Condition. I believe most of the paint is Original. There are a couple places where I noticed some over-spray so Dad must have had a few areas touched-up or it was there when he bought it. What areas will need work: The gas tank had a pin hole in it so I removed it from the car. It will need a new gas tank and straps (sending unit is fine). The rear (hydraulic) brake line has a hole in it. It will need to be replaced. The right side of the hood has an area where the paint has peeled off (see pictures). All four Tires are bad and will need to be replaced. The Emergency Brake Pedal will not depress. I believe the Rear Emergency Brake Cables are stuck and will probably need to be replaced. There are two rust holes in the Trunk Floor about the diameter of a pencil. The location is above the fuel tank and under where the spare tire bolts in. (see picture - the tire iron is pointing to the two holes. As to Title: The State of Maine does not and will not issue a title for a motor vehicle manufactured prior to 1995. The Estate (The Court Appointed Personal Representatives) will provide the buyer with a "Notarized Bill of Sale" that states that the "Seller Warranties that [1] The Estate is the sole lawful owner of this vehicle, and [2] this vehicle is free of any liens and/or encumbrances. If you need something else that we can provide, we will do our best to help you where we can. Payment: A $500 deposit via PayPal will be required within 48 hours of willing the bid. The remaining balance will be required in the form of a cashier’s check (or similar) and must be received within 7 days of the sale. If these conditions are not met the sale will be rescinded and the car will be re-listed. As to storage and pick up: Buyer may pick the car up at its location in Augusta, Maine. We are willing to continue to store this car inside for a reasonable amount of time while pick up arrangements are being made. If you need more time, we will certainly work with you. If you pick it up, or send an agent, we will be available to help in any way that we can to assist in helping load it. As to delivery: We have a trailer and will consider delivering it within the Northeast area for $1.25 a loaded mile. If you have any questions, contact me and I'll do my best to answer them, or if you prefer, we can exchange cell phone numbers and talk.Thank You for your interest, and Good Luck! On Nov-23-14 at 03:52:28 PST, seller added the following information: I found four (4) Brand New Mated Set of G/78-15 Tires over the garage that I'm sure Dad bought for the car. These will be included in the sale. Also, I put a 5 gallon boat tank in the trunk and connected it to the fuel line so the car can be driven around until a new tank can get installed (I sill have the original gas tank if you want it). The car still has front brakes, so as I said, the car can be driven around the yard (I drove it around yesterday). Thanks and Good Luck to All.
