Vehicle Detail

The car was owned/transferred among family members from 1995-November 2013; Experian lists this as 4 previous owners (before me). The owner was a collector and owns a mechanic shop in Katy,Texas (Katy Auto Care) He took amazing care of the car...you can see by the pictures that you could eat off the engine it is so clean. The exterior has 0 scratches, dents, door dings - impeccable; interior leather and headliner in excellent condition, T-Top does not leak, floorboard carpet clean, tires are mid-range - good, etc...,her faults are: side mirror adjustor loose, rear-view mirror loose, the rubber coating is worn off of some wires, the original '95 dash under the window is sun-cracked; it has a dash cover over the top of it. I have been told that I have all maintenance records from original sale until currently; there are several dating back to the 90's for oil changes and regular maintenance. Comes with a Camaro DVD and the Camaro Owner's Manual. SO, HERE'S THE CAMARO Z-28 STORY: In March of 2014 I took the car to a mechanic shop to have a new Radiator Thermostat installed, as had been recommended as a remedy to the temp guage misreading; and to have the temperature guage checked, as the temp-guage was misreading randomly - the temp would jump up or down, or stick on a certain temp when the car was off (even overnight). It would do fine for several weeks, then randomly misbehave again. Mysterious...The mechanic shop had the car for a week, and insisted on doing a diagnostic, and reported to me that "nothing was wrong with the car". When I offered to pay the mechanic for his time, the owner, Eric, said that they all test-drove the car "trying to get the guage to show overheated" to determine why it was misreading, but that they didn't find a thing wrong with the guage or the car, which agreed with what their full diagnostic indicated, also. Eric, the owner, asked me to buy the shop pizza for lunch and call it even (which I did.) When I went to pick up the car that evening, it didn't run; it started and choked and coughed, and died; they had to push it back into the shop holding yard. I had it towed to my apartment, where it has been since March. (From that moment to now, I have insurance reports, etc. to tell the story of the entire conversation(s) and interchange, but for sake of the nutshell version here in the ad, I have jumped over the details. I will gladly email the insurance claim to an interested buyer. Texas Insurance policy is that no mechanical issue is ever covered, for any reason. The circumstances did not qualify for "small claims court", which is also explained in the paperwork.) I have pictures of the odometer readings, and it shows that the shop mechanics took the car for 90+ miles of "test drive" and what they were trying to hide was that they blew the engine (cracked the heads). When it wouldn't drive out of their lot they tried to say it needed an optispark distributor, so, obviously not trusting them, I had the car towed to a second mechanic who replaced the optispark & water pump. When he tried to test drive the car, he said it sounded like it was ready to explode, and that is when he checked and discovered the cracked heads (it didn't need the $500 optispark, nor the water pump but it's got new ones anyway! my treat! LOL). Of course, once off their shop property, the shop owned by denied responsibility and wouldn't speak with my insurance company or myself, blah blah blah...it's been a nightmare mess. SO...ALL THAT IS TO SAY that the car is in collector condition, mechanically sound EXCEPT for the large engine block/heads. I just need to let it go; I was told as is it's worth around $2000 as it sits. KBB was $5860 prior to the cracked heads; I was selling it to a Camero club mechanic, which is how I happened to have the pictures of the odometer readings and the car condition.
