Up for auction is my 1998 Toyota SR5 4Runner 4X4. As you can see from the photos, this classic 4Runner is in amazing condition for its age. I am the original owner (no pets, non-smoker) and I really hate to part with it. This 4Runner has only 82K miles. If you've scanned the 4Runners in this age range on eBay you know they almost always have between 125K to 200K+ miles on them. I guess that's because these vehicles are very robust and seem to last forever if properly maintained, as this one has, including all scheduled services and timing chain replacement. This 4Runner runs as great as it looks and has been serviced by my Toyota dealer its entire life. Everything operates correctly and it just passed its NJ Motor Vehicle inspection in August 2014. It has never been in an accident and is still tight with no rattles. This 4Runner is rare for another reason. It has a 5 speed manual transmission, which works perfectly. Less than 5% of all 1998 4Runners came with a 5 speed manual shift and Toyota discontinued manual shift 4Runners entirely some years ago. For those of us who prefer a manual shift transmission, this was not good news, but if you are like me and prefer the performance and fun of shifting yourself, this 4Runner might be for you. Many 4Runner lovers are aware that the chrome finish on the bumpers of 4Runners from this period did not hold up well over time. My vehicle fared no better than the rest, so I had the front and rear bumpers replaced with new OEM chrome bumpers a few years ago and they look great. The tires are in excellent condition, as I tried to demonstrate in one of the photos, and the battery was replaced a year or so ago. This 4Runner has ice cold A/C, power windows, power brakes, power door locks, power sun roof with sliding screen, roof rack, tinted windows, AM/FM radio with tape player, running boards, retractable cargo cover, towing hitch, electric mirrors, 4 wheel ABS brakes, tilt steering wheel, power rear hatch window with wiper and defroster, rear climate control, side impact door beams, electronic keyless entry and a security system, all of which operate properly. The engine is a 3.4 liter DOHC 24 valve EFI V6 and runs great. Cosmetically, the vehicle is free of any significant scratches, dings or dents, except for a small 2 inch dent in the rear hatch, which can be can be seen in the photos. The owners manual and a shop manual which I purchased to care for the vehicle will come with it. A $1000 PayPal deposit is required within 48 hours after the close of the auction. The full balance must be paid within 7 days of the close of the auction and payment must be in the form of a bank cashiers check. The vehicle will not be released for shipping nor will the title be mailed until the required bank check has been cleared by my bank. At that point I will send the title and extra keys to the buyer via USPS Priority Mail with delivery confirmation. The buyer is responsible for all pickup and shipping arrangements and expenses. There are no warranties expressed or implied by this auction and no return of this vehicle will be accepted.
