Vehicle Detail
History: The Chrysler TC by Maserati came about as the result of a collaboration between Chrysler and Maserati, an arrangement rooted in the friendship of the charismatic men in charge of the two companies, Lee Iacocca and his friend Alejandro de Tomaso. The link was perhaps ahead of its time, with the low-volume Maserati providing its image and tuning expertise, and the high-volume Chrysler providing its engineering and sales capabilities. After all was said and done they produced 7300 cars in Milan Italy from 1989-1991. The cost new in 1989 was $33,000 and by the time production ended in 1991 they were going for $37,000. If you are visiting my auction perhaps you know all about Chrysler's TC by Maserati. This particular TC belongs to my aunt who no longer drives so I am selling it for her. She bought it in 2009 and the car originally came from Florida before that. The car was made for one Sue & Maurice Tabler of Florida and is car #474 as per the gold dash plaque from the factory. My Aunt is the second owner. She only drove it in the summer so this car has never seen bad weather. I guess we are a TC family because in addition to my aunt's TC I have also owned two TC's in the past. I thought mine were nice but my Aunt's is the creme de la creme! My Auction: I will attempt to describe this fine automobile to the best of my ability. All used cars have flaws, even 25 year old unrestored ones so please be realistic in your expectations. I will point out anything that stands out as I believe anyone who doesn't isn't being thorough with their auction. Please ask all questions before you bid. Please view the link to all of the additional pictures I have posted on flickr.com before you bid, some of them have captions and I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Please read my entire auction carefully before you bid. Also please be respectful of my auction, these cost real money that I have to work hard for just like you do. Please make sure you have the money in place BEFORE you bid and that you have asked your significant other or whoever you need permission from to buy a car BEFORE you bid. I will not cancel your bid for any excuse you try to give me so if you are one of those guys please just leave my auction alone. Please make sure you are able to follow through with the purchase BEFORE you bid. Thanks and good luck! Link to over 200 more pictures: https://www.flickr.com/photos/127065532@N04/ The pictures come out much better on this website then they do on Ebay. First please view all of the pages in the tab format, it will show the captions this way. After that you can click on the pictures to make them larger. Then drag your mouse over the picture and a magnifying glass will appear. If you click them picture again you will be able to supersize it. You can now use the left and right arrows on either side of the page to move from supersized picture to supersized picture but remember you can't see the captions in this mode. Look very closely at the pictures of this car, the God is in the details! Exterior: This TC is finished in Exotic Red and is absolutely stunning! The paint on this car is as smooth as glass and shines like a mirror! It has that "soft" feel to it when you run your hand over it just like a new car in the showroom. This car wears 100% of its original paint. There are no dents and most importantly not a spec of rust. Even under the doors there is absolutely no rust. The trunk lid and hardtop have a few blemishs in the paint that I point to in some of the photos. This is probably one of the best TC's in the country. It has been driven so there are a couple of door dings and stone chips as you would expect of a car this age but otherwise it looks amazing! This car has never been in an accident. All of the rubber seals and gaskets are in perfect condition. All of the glass is chip and crack free. The round porthole glass on the hard top is cloudy. The tires are brand new and have about 1000 miles on them. All of the plastic trim on the bumpers is scuff free and looks brand new. The wheels do not have any curb rash. When I put the convertible top up I was amazed....it looks brand new. It does not have any stains or tears. My aunt always kept the car garaged and covered when not in use. This car looks so good you could expect to take it to a car show and win a prize. Interior: The interior of this car if finished in beautiful Ginger hides. This is where you start to understand why this car was so expensive when it was new. Every surface is covered in leather! The leather in this car is in amazing condition. There is a slight amount of wear on two spots of the drivers seat bolster otherwise I would say the leather in this car is pretty close to being perfect. The carpets are perfectly clean and the car comes with the original Ginger floor mats. If you look closely at the pictures you can still see some of the original factory plastic on the carpet where it wasn't torn off completely at delivery...this car is still in the wrapper! This car has the wood inlays on the dashboard which I prefer to the boring black ones. There is a small piece of plastic cracked off right in front of the ashtray lid, it is not very noticeable but I point to it in one of the pictures. This car has never been smoked in. All of the interior plastics are in excellent condition and look new. The trunk carpet is spotlessly clean and looks brand new. The engine compartment is fully detailed and looks very clean. All of the door jambs and cracks are so clean you could eat off of them. The interior on this TC is exceptional and probably one of the best I have seen and one of the best ones out there. Mechanically: This Chrysler TC by Maserati runs and drives great! I would not hesitate to drive it cross country right now. The engine starts right up with no smoking and the car accelerates thru all the gears smoothly. It holds steady oil pressure. It drives exactly like a new TC did back in 1989. By the way if you are considering one of these, 1989 is the year to buy. It has the turbo 4 cylinder engine and when you step on the gas: ZOOM! off it goes! The 1990 and 1991's with the normally aspirated 6 cylinder engines are much slower. I just put new brake rotors on the front so the brakes have a nice firm feel to them without any pulsating when you stop. As mentioned above the car has a brand new set of matching tires. The radio works great but when you put a cassette tape in it, it spits it right back out. Also the power antenna motor works but the antenna does not go up and down without help because it needs a new mast, I just leave it in the up position. The reception however is as clear as a bell. The convertible top is manually operated but there is a power latching mechanism that secures the soft top or hard top to the tonneau cover. This does not work so you have to do it manually also. This feature didn't work in my two TC's either, I am not sure they worked when they left the factory when the cars were new. The soft top is finicky to latch, the hard top is very easy to latch. The tonneau cover does pop open electrically like it should. The air conditioning is ICE COLD and the heat is HOT! Every button and switch works, even the cruise control. Additional Notes: -This Chrysler TC by Maserati is sold as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. -I have a clean and clear Illinois title in my Aunt's name that she has previously already signed off on. The title is signed but not dated. -This is very cool, I have the original window sticker for the car (Included with the sale). It was $34,673 back in 1989.
