2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4WD! Jeep XJ Engine: 4.0L Inline 6 4 Speed Transmission with Overdrive ~272k miles Description: Final production year of the Jeep Cherokee XJ! Included in this auction is a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Limited with 4.0L, inline 6. The reason for selling is that this Jeep has falling victim to the 0331 cylinder head crack; those of you that are familiar with XJs are probably aware of this issue. This issue was discovered in January of this year (2014) at which time, I drained coolant and oil and parked in the garage. This Jeep runs and drives however it will need a cylinder head repair to run safely/reliably/consistently; most likely it will need to be towed to its new home. I have not attempted to inspect or tear down the engine or cylinder head. This jeep has lived a “full” life (270k miles) but has life left and can serve as a good starting point for your project! Prior to the cylinder head issue, the Jeep gave me years of service, only needing tires, oil changes (synthetic), a battery and alternator. Description below is intended to be transparent and all inclusive. I purchased a new car at the time when I parked the Jeep, so I have no real need for it.
