Vehicle Detail

1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite 2-owner vehicle with onlly 63,755 original miles. Original paint, interior, drive train, and spare tire! Original owner (me) maintained vehicle for first 40,000 miles over about 3 years (Monroe Super 500 shocks that were added at that time are still in place). Next owner drove it 23,000 miles over 18 years (1977-1995), then covered it with a tarp and left in a woodshed for 15 years (1995-2010), then sold it back to me in 2010. In 2010, I put it back on the road after some major maintenance. New parts include: fuel tank, fuel tank sending unit, fuel filter, fuel pump, carb kit, spark plugs, radiator & heater hoses, spark plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, coil, air cleaner & filter, oil & filter, coolant, wipers, complete dual exhaust, brake lines, master cylinder, front calipers, rear wheel cylinders, brake equalizer, emergency brake cable, thermostat, radiator cap, shop manuals, battery, and more. Over $1500 in recent parts, with receipts for everything (exhaust alone was $320, fuel tank $200, etc). Original paint came out after polish and wax to an above-average level. Some small surface rust spots here and there, with the worst being on the left rear quarter panel where there is about 20 dime to quarter size spots, which can clearly be seen in one of the photos. Those spots were paint bubbles and were scraped down, brush-touch painted with matching paint, and polished (result shown in photo). The paint was polished and waxed four years ago, and is holding up well without return of oxidation or rust spots. There is NO rust in the typically common areas of the lower body, quarters, trunk or floor pans. Because of how it was stored for 15 years (tail end of car sticking out of tarp facing open end of woodshed), the rear of the trunk rubber seal soaked up moisture and rusted the channel where it fits; the rubber still stays in place, but there is rust-through in the channel that holds it (near the silver duct tape as shown in next-to-last photo). There must also be some pinholes at the lower rear corners of the rear window (can't be seen under the molding and vinyl top material) because some water dripped into the trunk from those points when I washed the car. Interior is excellent, with the only flaw being corrosion on some parts of the plastic wood grain. Drives great--the vehicle starts, runs, shifts, steers and stops perfectly, with no noises, leaks or unusual characteristics. All lights and guages are operational; the 8-track player still works! A few minor dings and dents, and original vinyl top is cracking, but still one of the best 40-year-old original survivors out there! Call Bill @ 509 991-1656 for questions or more details. I had installed Cragar S/S chrome wheels and Michelin tires at about 25,000 miles in 1975, which were still on the car when I got it back in 2010, but the wheels were rusted and the tires were rotten. The used wheels and tires I found to work well and be very close to one of the wheel options originally offered are from a 1980 Crown Victoria, which are currently on the car as shown in the photos. Been in closed garage in Spokane, Washington for last four years, and only driven a few hundred miles since rejuvenation. High bidder to supply $500 non-refundable PayPal deposit within 48 hours of auction close. Balance to be paid within 10 days and pick-up/shipping to be arranged within 21 days of auction close. Titled and registered in Washington state as collector vehicle with its original 1974 plates. Has fresh oil and Motorcraft filter, good tires, battery is charged and it's ready to drive. Ford Elites were only offered in 1974, 1975 & 1976. ADDED PHOTO: Last photo shows car as it was in late 1975.
